Lad: A Dog is a 1919 American novel written by Albert Payson Terhune and published by E. P. Dutton. Composed of twelve short stories first published in magazines, the novel is based on the life of Terhune's real-life rough collie, Lad. Born in 1902, the real-life Lad was an unregistered collie of unknown lineage originally owned by Terhune's father. Lad's death in 1918, was mourned by many of the story's fans, particularly children.
Through the stories of Lad's adventures, Terhune expresses his views on parenting, obtaining perfect obedience without force, and the nature and rights of the "well-bred". Terhune began writing the stories in 1915 at the suggestion of his Red Book Magazine editor. They gained in popularity and, as Terhune was under contractual obligation to submit something to Doubleday-Page, he collected them into novel form. After Doubleday rejected the novel, he solicited other publishers until it was picked up by Dutton. After a slow start, the novel became a best seller in the adult fiction and children's fiction markets, having been repositioned as a young adult novel by Grosset and Dunlap in the 1960s and 1970s. Selling over one million copies, it is Terhune's best-selling work and the one that propelled him to fame. It has been reprinted over 70 times by Dutton, and republished by a variety of publishers since its original release, including at least six international translations.
Chak Number Three is a place in Mandi Bahauddin District of the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is a small village with about 300 houses. It is south from Bhaga pind, west from Sohawa, east from Chemun and north from Bhiki sherief. There is one mosque in the village. The majority of the young generation is living abroad in USA, Canada, UK, and Europe. Agriculture includes growing bamboo in their fields.
Demography
The Warraich tribe forms a majority of the population followed by the Cheema and the Gujjar.
Being a part of Kirana Bar it was colonised by the British Raj after World War I. Almost all of the villagers are immigrants and came here at the time of partition. Most of the immigrants belong to the Jalander, Amritsar, and Ambala districts of pre-partitioned Punjab.
Nowadays most of the land owning families belong to Arain, Rajput and Jutt communities. While labourers have settled from the adjoining areas of district Jhang belonging to Syal and Musalli communities.
Facilities
The village has a Boys Middle School, Boys Primary School and Girls Primary school. Telephone exchange serving near villages is located in it. A rural health centre and a veterinary hospital is also situated in this village.
The nearest city is Sillanwali which is the tehsil headquarter and police station
Remix is a Candan Erçetin album. There are remixes of "Neden" in this album. There is also a song named "Yazık Oldu" which is a song from Pjer Žalica's movie Fuse.
"Remix (I Like The)" did not enter the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, becoming their first lead single to fail charting since "Be My Girl" (1986). Instead, the song peaked at number 38 on the Adult Pop Songs chart.
Critical reception
PopCrush gave the song 3.5 stars out of five. In her review Jessica Sager wrote, "The song sounds like an adult contemporary answer to The Wanted mixed with Bruno Mars‘ ‘Locked Out of Heaven.’ It has a danceable beat like many of the British bad boys’ tracks, but is stripped down and raw enough to pass for Mars’ latest radio smash as well." Carl Williott of Idolator commended the song's chorus, but criticized its "liberal use of Auto-Tune" and compared Donnie Wahlberg's vocals to Chad Kroeger.
The Warner Brothers film "Lad, A Dog" was released to theaters on June 6, 1962. The 98 minute film was released to VHS format on January 31, 1995. No DVD is available.
