Dempster–Skokie, formerly known as Dempster, or Skokie, is a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's 'L' system, on the Yellow Line at 5005 W. Dempster Street in Skokie, Illinois (directional coordinates 8800 north, 5000 west). It is one of three stops on the Yellow Line, and currently the northern/western terminus of line, although an extension of the line beyond Dempster has been considered. It is one of two CTA rail stations in Skokie, and is at grade level.
It is also one of two terminals (the other being O'Hare on the Blue Line) that doesn't have a rail yard attached to it. All 10 cars assigned to the Yellow Line are stored at the Howard Yard. The Skokie Shops are located near the Yellow Line tracks, but the shops don't function as a yard, only as a shop for rail cars. This station is the only CTA rail terminal that does not have an island platform. Passengers who wanted to return to Howard from this station after leaving a train arriving at this station had to always pay an additional fare.
A station, in the context of New Zealand agriculture, is a large farm dedicated to the grazing of sheep and cattle. The use of the word for the farm or farm buildings date back to the mid-nineteenth century. The owner of a station is called a runholder.
Some of the stations in the South Island have been subject to the voluntary tenure review process. As part of this process the government has been buying out all or part of the leases. Poplars Station in the Lewis Pass area was purchased in part by the government in 2003. The Nature Heritage Fund was used to purchase 4000 ha for $1.89 million. Birchwood Station was bought in 2005 to form part of the Ahuriri Conservation ParkSt James Station was purchased by the Government in 2008.
Notable stations
Akitio Station, formerly 50,000 acres (200km2) located in the Southern North Island province of Wairarapa and host to the touring English Cricket team in the 20th Century.
Station is a 2014 Hindi thriller film written and directed by Saad Khan and was produced by Sumit Ghosh Media, an independent company that promote talents from Bangalore. Sameer Kevin Roy, Vibhinta Verma, and Siddhanth Sundar star as the main protagonists of the film. Production began in November 2011, and was wrapped up in July 2012. The film went to post-production in March 2013, and was released on 28 March 2014 via PVR Cinemas and its arm PVR DIRECTOR'S RARE which works as a springboard to support the theatrical release of the critically acclaimed cinema and niche content from across the world. Official theatrical trailer was launched on 20 February 2014 at PVR Forum Mall, Bangalore in presence of Kannada film director Jacob Verghese, prominent Fashion Guru Prasad Bidapa along with Miss Earth Nicole Faria, and the cast and crew of the film.
The film follows three psychotic assassins as they wait to finish a job at a waiting room on a deserted railway station.
In astronomy, CTA 102, also known by its B1950 coordinates as 2230+114 (QSR B2230+114) and its J2000 coordinates as J2232+1143 (QSO J2232+1143), is a quasar discovered in the early 1960s by a radio survey carried out by the California Institute of Technology. It has been observed by a large range of instruments since its discovery, including WMAP, EGRET, GALEX, VSOP and Parkes, and has been regularly imaged by the Very Long Baseline Array since 1995. It has also been detected in gamma rays, and a gamma-ray flare has been detected from it.
In 1963 Nikolai Kardashev proposed that the then-unidentified radio source could be evidence of a Type II or III extraterrestrial civilization on the Kardashev scale. Follow-up observations were announced in 1965 by Gennady Sholomitskii, who found that the object's radio emission was varying; a public announcement of these results caused a worldwide sensation. The idea that the emission was caused by a civilization was rejected when the radio source was later identified as one of the many varieties of a quasar.

Chicago's Unusual Transit Line | CTA Yellow Line "Skokie Swift"
Welcome to another video! On a recent trip to Chicago, I ventured about 15 miles north of downtown to check out one of the city's most unique transit lines, The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Yellow Line. Commonly referred to as the "Skokie Swift", The Yellow Line is the second shortest "L" Line in the CTA System behind the Purple Line (not including the Purple Line Express). Shuttling back and forth between Howard Station in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago to Dempster-Skokie in the Village of Skokie. The Yellow Line has just three stops and travels 4.7 Miles making just one intermediate stop at Oakton-Skokie. Join me as I take a ride on one of Chicago's most unique transit services, the CTA's Yellow Line!

Railroad Crossings on the Skokie Swift | CTA Yellow Line
North of Chicago lies the town of Skokie. This city is accessible by Chicago’s rapid transit system, the ‘L.’ But the line that runs here, the Yellow Line, is a very interesting one. The tracks have many at-grade railroad crossings and until 2004, there were even overhead wires supplying the trains with electricity. Why is the “Skokie Swift” so strangely built? It has to do with everyone’s favorite subject in school: history…

15:11 Spotting a Metra train
