Grandiose Delusions (Delusions as Defense): Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy Approach
Grandiose delusions are symptoms of schizophrenia spectrum diagnoses that can frustrate treatment efforts. Providers can often see them as only controlled through medicines or reality challenges. These efforts can often worsen the very symptoms trying to be addressed. However, treatment and theory can focus on grandiosity and cognitive therapy. We are in an unprecedented time. Individuals we intend to serve are at home to prevent spread of COVID-19 and the effects on self-esteem can exacerbate the grandiose delusions. How do we address grandiose delusions? This webinar considers the theoretical grounding of Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy for psychosis as it relates to grandiose delusions and interventions.

Nature: Grandiose Delusion (with Benny Hendel)
The concept of "nature" is a romantic invention. It was spun by the likes of Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the 18th century as a confabulated utopian contrast to the dystopia of urbanization and Darwinian, ruthless materialism. The traces of this dewy-eyed conception of the "savage", his alleged harmony and resonance with nature, and his unmolested, unadulterated surroundings can be found in the more malignant forms of fundamentalist environmentalism and in pop-culture (the most recent example of which is the propaganda-laden cinematic extravaganza, “Avatar”).
At the other extreme are religious literalists who regard Man as the crown of creation with complete dominion over nature and the right to exploit its resources unreservedly. Similar, veiled, sentiments can be found among scientists. The...

Grandiose delusions
Welcome once again to another short video from the delusional psychiatrist. This short video defines grandiose delusions and gives some examples. Don't forget to visit my website www.studydelusions.com for more information and my other you tube videos.
This is where the delusional content indicates that the person feels that they are someone important, of great influence, a sense of inflated self-worth that is not in keeping with reality. For example they feel that they are super rich, or have superhuman powers, that they can fly, that they are jesus Christ or god. Sometimes such people develop paranoid delusions because other 'people do not like the fact that they have such special abilities'

The Anthropic Principle, for instance, promoted by many outstanding physicists, claims that the nature of the Universe is preordained to accommodate sentient beings - namely, us humans.
Industrialists, politicians and economists have only recently begun paying lip service to sustainable development and to the environmental costs of their policies. Thus, in a way, they bridge the abyss - at least verbally - between these two diametrically opposed forms of fundamentalism. Similarly, the denizens of the West continue to indulge in rampant consumption, but now it is suffused with environmental guilt rather than driven by unadulterated hedonism.
Still, essential dissimilarities between the schools notwithstanding, the dualism of Man vs. Nature is universally acknowledged.

This video answers the question: Can I give some examples of delusions as they might be seen by mental health counselors in their work?
There's a lot of confusion about delusions and when something rises to the level of delusional. A delusion is a fixed false belief that doesn't change in light of conflicting evidence. Delusions get confused with hallucinations. Hallucinations represent a separate construct: this is when somebody sees something other people can't see or hears or something other people can't hear or otherwise senses something other people cannot sense. Oftentimes delusions and hallucinations go together like in certain disorders, but they don't necessarily have to appear together.
Delusions are consistent with the concept of psychosis - they break from reality. When someone is psychotic, 65% of the time we would see the delusions.
Certain mental disorders may be associated with delusions: schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, schizophreniform disorder, delusional disorder, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder.
