Dance Dance Revolution(ダンスダンスレボリューション,Dansu Dansu Reboryūshon), abbreviated DDR and also known as Dancing Stage in earlier games in Europe and Australasia, and some other games in Japan, is a music video game series produced by Konami. Introduced in Japan in 1998 as part of the Bemani series, and released in North America and Europe in 1999, Dance Dance Revolution is the pioneering series of the rhythm and dance genre in video games. Players stand on a "dance platform" or stage and hit colored arrows laid out in a cross with their feet to musical and visual cues. Players are judged by how well they time their dance to the patterns presented to them and are allowed to choose more music to play to if they receive a passing score.
Dance Dance Revolution has been given much critical acclaim for its originality and stamina in the video game market. There have been dozens of arcade-based releases across several countries and hundreds of home video game console releases, promoting a music library of original songs produced by Konami's in-house artists and an eclectic set of licensed music from many different genres. The DDR series has inspired similar games such as Pump It Up by Andamiro and In the Groove by Roxor.
Higbee was launched 13 November 1944 by the Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine; sponsored by Mrs. A.M. Wheaton, sister of the late Mrs. Higbee; and commissioned on 27 January 1945, Commander Lindsay Williamson in command.
World War II
Higbee immediately sailed to Boston, where she was converted to a radar picket destroyer. After shakedown in the Caribbean, she sailed for the Pacific on 24 May, joining Carrier Task Force 38 less than 400miles from Tokyo Bay on 19 July. "Leaping Lenah", as she had been dubbed by her crew, screened the carriers as their planes launched heavy air attacks against the Japanese mainland until the end of hostilities on 15 August. She helped clear Japanese mine fields and supported the occupation forces for the following seven months, finally returning to San Diego on 11 April 1946. The post-war years saw Higbee make two peacetime Western Pacific cruises as well as participate in fleet exercises and tactical training maneuvers during both these cruises and off the West Coast. On her second WestPac cruise, Higbee escorted the heavy cruiserToledo(CA-133) as they paid official visits to the recently constituted governments of India and Pakistan in the summer of 1948.
Myles C. Fox was laid down by the Bath Iron Works Corporation, Bath, Maine on 14 August 1944, launched on 13 January 1945; sponsored by Mrs. James C. Fox, mother of Lieutenant Fox; and commissioned at Boston on 20 March 1945, Comdr. John S. Fahy in command.
Service history
1945–1949
After Caribbean shakedown and training off New Jersey, Myles C. Fox sailed on 5 July 1945 for the Panama Canal, San Diego, and Hawaii, arriving Pearl Harbor on the 28th. She departed Pearl Harbor on 10 August for the Marshall Islands, receiving word en route of cessation of hostilities. After calling at Eniwetok, she continued to Japan, anchoring in Tokyo Bay on 9 September to begin duty screening carriers providing air cover for the occupation landings on Japan.
It was named the 34th "Most Awesomely Bad Song Ever" by VH1. It was also rated number 3 on Billboard's chart for One-hit wonders of the 2000s, compiled in 2009.
Music video
The song's music video, directed by Honey, features the band in a fantasy-like forest complete with butterflies where Shifty Shellshock and Epic Mazur sing their praises to two women with butterfly wings. At one point in the video, Shifty's star-shaped tattoos fly off into the air.
The first season of the American television series Haven premiered on July 9, 2010, and concluded on October 8, 2010, on Syfy. The show aired on Fridays at 10:00 pm ET. The season consisted of 13 episodes. The show stars Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, Eric Balfour and Nicholas Campbell.
Storylines
Audrey
In the beginning of season one, Audrey was dispatched to Haven, Maine to investigate the death of an escaped federal prisoner local to the town. On her first day in Haven, she nearly ran her Ford Taurus off a cliff, but was rescued by Detective Nathan Wuornos, who assisted in her investigation. She met Havenites Conrad Brauer and Duke Crocker, as well as journalists Vince and Dave Teagues, before discovering that Lester had been thrown to his death by Marion Caldwell with the use of her own paranormal abilities.
The Teagues show Audrey an old newspaper clipping with a photo of someone strongly resembling Audrey herself. After solving the Lester case, Parker chose to use several weeks of her accrued vacation time in order to stay in Maine. She questioned Chief Wuornos (Nathan's Father) about the woman in the picture because Wuornos had investigated the 1983 Colorado Kid case to which the photograph was related, and the chief agreed to look into the matter. The evidence box from the case is located still sealed, but empty.
"Butterfly" is a wedding song by Japanese musician Kaela Kimura, released as a digital single on June 1, 2009, roughly a month before her fifth album, Hocus Pocus. It was extremely successful, reaching downloads of over 2,000,000 just over six months after its release. It is Kimura's most successful single digitally. Columbia released a special instrumental version of the song on February 14, 2010.
Writing and inspiration
The song is a ballad, arranged with a harpsichord and piano backing. As the song progresses, a band arrangement with electric guitars and drums is introduced. Also present in the song are the sounds of church bells, a children's choir and a church organ. The lyrics describe a newly wed bride as a butterfly, who is "more wonderful today than any other time before" who "flaps white wings, together towards happiness." The verses deal with how the person writing the song met the wedding bride so long ago, and describes the wedding ceremony, and how happy the bride is.

Inside Tokyo's Long Love Affair with 'Dance Dance Revolution'
In 1998, the release of Dance Dance Revolution resuscitated the dying arcade industry by challenging often shy, introverted gamers to compete in dance competitions on top of neon platforms in front of eager fans. Yoshihiko Oto and his team of developers premiered the game in Tokyo, and it quickly took the country by storm, with DDR fanatics lining up in queues for their chance to compete. The game was then released in America, where it became a massive global hit, popular for its dedicated fan base, and the social interactions it spawned between users.
Though the arcade scene in the West has since died down, it Japan it still thrives, especially at the Konami Arcade Championships, which invites DDR gods from around Asia to compete in front of teeming audiences for their shot at #1.
