The Summer Solstice of 1984 marked the twelfth anniversary of the Stonehenge free festival. Headlining the show were space rockers Hawkwind. Fast-forward twelve months and it was an entirely different story. The authorities launched a massive operation, moving in with force to prevent the festival from happening, resulting in the fencing off of Britain's most famous ancient monument and an end to the free festival.
Fortune would have it that home-video pioneers Jetisoundz had arranged to record the events of the 21st June 1984. The film features Hawkwind's improvised performance of 'Ritual of Light and Dark' on the eve of the Solstice which continued after dawn, following the celebrated invasion of the Stones. In spite of the laid back party ambience this remains one of the bands most poignant sets in their thirty odd year career.
The classic line up of Dave Brock, Nik Turner, Harvey Bainbridge, Huw Lloyd-Langton, Alan Davy and Danny Thompson makes this recording all the more important. 'The Solstice at Stonehenge' is by far the most historically significant of Hawkwind's audio/visual output and should be cherished by fans, collectors and the curious alike. Love and peace!!!

The Common Character Trait of Geniuses | James Gleick | Big Think
What are the common character traits of geniuses?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OVERVIEW:
James Gleick, who wrote a biography of Isaac Newton, describes the reclusive scientist as "antisocial, unpleasant and bitter." Newton fought with his friends "as much as with his enemies," Gleick says. In contrast, Richard Feynman, the subject of another Gleick biography, was "gregarious, funny, a great dancer." The superficial differences between the men go on and on. "Isaac Newton, I believe, never had sex," Gleick says. "Richard Feynman, I believe, had plenty."
So what could these two men possibly have in common? A...

Threeband Slug (Genus Ambigolimax) (2022-10-25)
Ambigolimax is a genus of air-breathing land slugs in the family Limacidae, the keelback slugs. There is still ongoing disagreement whether it is more appropriate to consider Ambigolimax as merely a subgenus of Lehmannia; the evidence for splitting them is phylogenetic trees constructed on the basis of DNA sequences. Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written
language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills

- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain

SUMMARY
=======
Chaos is a genus of amoebae, in the family Amoebidae. The largest and best-known species, the so-called "giant amoeba" (Chaos carolinense), can reach lengths of 5 mm, although most specimens fall between 1 and 3 mm.Members of the genus closely resemble Amoeba and share the same general morphology, producing numerous cylindrical pseudopods, each of which is rounded at the tip. However, while Amoeba have a single nucleus, Chaos can have as many as a thousand. Because of this attribute, C. carolinensis was once placed in the genus Pelomyxa along with the other giant multinucleate amoeba, Pelomyxa palustris. Recently, molecular phylogenetic studies of this species have confirmed the view of some earlier researchers that it is more closely related to Amoeba than to Pelomyxa. The species is now placed in the independent genus Chaos, a sister group to Amoeba.

According to Gleick, when it came to making the great discoveries of science, both men were alone in their heads. This also applies to great geniuses like Charles Babbage, Alan Turing and Ada Byron. "They all had the ability to concentrate with a sort of intensity that is hard for mortals like me to grasp," Gleick says, "a kind of passion for abstraction that doesn't lend itself to easy communication."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JAMES GLEICK:
James Gleick was born in New York City in 1954. He graduated from Harvard College in 1976 and helped found Metropolis, an alternative weekly newspaper in Minneapolis. Then he worked for ten years as an editor and reporter for The New York Times.
His first book, Chaos, was a National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize finalist and a national bestseller. He collaborated with the photographer Eliot Porter on Nature's Chaos and with developers at Autodesk on Chaos: The Software. His next books include the best-selling biographies, Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman and Isaac Newton, both shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize, as well as Faster and What Just Happened. They have been translated into twenty-five languages.
In 1989-90 he was the McGraw Distinguished Lecturer at Princeton University. For some years he wrote the Fast Forward column in the New York Times Magazine.
With Uday Ivatury, he founded The Pipeline, a pioneering New York City-based Internet service in 1993, and was its chairman and chief executive officer until 1995. He was the first editor of the Best American Science Writing series. He is active on the boards of the Authors Guild and the Key West Literary Seminar.

What is Roblox? ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop, where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. It’s unique in that practically everything on ROBLOX is designed and constructed by members of the community. ROBLOX is designed for 8 to 18 year olds, but it is open to people of all ages. Each player starts by choosing an avatar and giving it an identity. They can then explore ROBLOX — interacting with others by chatting, playing games, or collaborating on creative projects. Each player is also given their own piece of undeveloped real estate along with a virtual toolbox with which to design and build anything — be it a navigable skyscraper, a working helicopter, a giant pinball machine, a multiplayer “Capture the Flag” game or some other, yet-to-be-dreamed-up creation. There is no cost for this first plot of virtual land. By participating and by building cool stuff, ROBLOX members can earn specialty badges as well as ROBLOX dollars (“Robux”). In turn, they can shop the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories as well as premium building materials, interactive components, and working mechanisms.

Chaos!
