David Bromberg (born September 19, 1945) is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. An eclectic artist, Bromberg plays bluegrass, blues, folk, jazz, country and western, and rock and roll equally well. He is known for his quirky, humorous lyrics, and the ability to play rhythm and lead guitar at the same time.
Bromberg has played with many famous musicians, including Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson, Jorma Kaukonen, Jerry Garcia, Rusty Evans (The Deep) and Bob Dylan. He co-wrote the song "The Holdup" with former Beatle George Harrison, who played on Bromberg's self-titled 1972 album. In 2008, he was nominated for a Grammy Award.
Bromberg was born in Philadelphia, and raised Jewish in Tarrytown, New York. He attended Columbia University in the 1960s, studying guitar with Reverend Gary Davis during that period.
Proficient on fiddle, many styles of acoustic and electric guitar, pedal steel guitar and dobro, Bromberg began releasing albums of his own in the early 1970s on Columbia Records. His seven-minute rendition of "Mr. Bojangles" from 1972's Demon in Disguise, interspersed with tales about traveling with song author Jerry Jeff Walker, earned Bromberg progressive rock radio airplay. In 1973, he played mandolin, dobro, and electric guitar on Jonathan Edwards' album Have a Good Time for Me.
David Bromberg is an album by American multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter David Bromberg. His first solo album, it was released by Columbia Records in early 1972.
The album was reissued on CD by Wounded Bird Records in 2007.
Writing for Allmusic, critic William Ruhlmann wrote of the album, "This one finds the artist determined to demonstrate the range of his talent, and that range extends from pop/rock to bluegrass, with lots of blues and folk-blues thrown in... Bromberg may still be more of a player than a frontman, and more of a tradtionalist than a songwriter, but this disc presents a new wrinkle in some very familiar styles, suggesting that it's possible for an accomplished sideman to move downstage and take over the spotlight."
All tracks composed by David Bromberg except where indicated.
David (Greek: Δαυΐδ; fl. 6th century) was a Greek scholar and a commentator on Aristotle and Porphyry.
He may have come from Thessaly, but in later times he was confused with an Armenian of the same name (David Anhaght). He was a pupil of Olympiodorus in Alexandria in the late 6th century. His name suggests that he was a Christian.
Three commentaries to Aristotle's works attributed to him have survived: as well as an introduction to philosophy (prolegomena):
All these works will be published, with an English translation, in the series Commentaria in Aristotelem Armeniaca - Davidis Opera (five volumes), edited by Jonathan Barnes andValentina Calzolari.
Another anonymous commentary on Porphyry's Isagoge which was falsely ascribed to Elias (pseudo-Elias), was also falsely ascribed to David.
David (Bulgarian: Давид) (died 976) was a Bulgarian noble, brother of Emperor Samuel and eldest son of komes Nicholas. After the disastrous invasion of Rus' armies and the fall of North-eastern Bulgaria under Byzantine occupation in 971, he and his three younger brothers took the lead of the defence of the country. They executed their power together and each of them governed and defended a separate region. He ruled the southern-most parts of the realm from Prespa and Kastoria and was responsible for the defence the dangerous borders with Thessalonica and Thessaly. In 976 he participated in the major assault against the Byzantine Empire but was killed by vagrant Vlachs between Prespa and Kostur.
However, there's also another version about David’s origin. David gains the title "comes" during his service in the Byzantine army which recruited many Armenians from the Eastern region of the empire. The 11th-century historian Stepanos Asoghik wrote that Samuel had one brother, and they were Armenians from the district Derjan. This version is supported by the historians Nicholas Adontz, Jordan Ivanov, and Samuil's Inscription where it’s said that Samuel’s brother is David. Also, the historians Yahya and Al Makin clearly distinguish the race of Samuel and David (the Comitopouli) from the one of Moses and Aaron (the royal race):
David (Spanish pronunciation: [daˈβið]) officially San José de David is a city and corregimiento located in the west of Panama. It is the capital of the province of Chiriquí and has an estimated population of 144,858 inhabitants as confirmed in 2013. It is a relatively affluent city with a firmly established, dominant middle class and a very low unemployment and poverty index. The Pan-American Highway is a popular route to David.
The development of the banking sector, public construction works such as the expansion of the airport and the David-Boquete highway alongside the growth of commercial activity in the city have increased its prominence as one of the fastest growing regions in the country. The city is currently the economic center of the Chiriqui province and produces more than half the gross domestic product of the province, which totals 2.1 billion. It is known for being the third-largest city in the country both in population and by GDP and for being the largest city in Western Panama.

Jerry Jeff Walker & David Bromberg perform together in Austin, Texas on 2-27-87, as broadcast in stereo on public television. BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on Youtube or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads. In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footag...
Philadelphia Folk Festival This video is an historical document. It shows a very important point, the beginnings of jamgrass. It show the nexus of traditional music and what John Hartford called "that New York sensibility" (weed fueled organic improvisational music). Hartford & Bromberg met at the 1970 Philadelphia Folk Festival. They made an immediate connection and were inseparable, a spark was made, the fuse was lit. Bromberg was scheduled to play solo he instead formed an hoc band and invited John. (The first time Bromberg played in public with a band) John said he was greatly inspired by Bromberg's creative attitude and shortly after this fest, he asked Bromberg to produce his seminal jamgrass album, Steam Powered Aereo Plain. And the rest is history, as they say.

For all you die hard David Bromberg fans & those of us old enough to remember Spiro T. Agnew, this is "Bullfrog Blues" from David Bromberg's 2nd album "How Late'll Ya Play 'Til?" This is from Vol. 1, which is the "recorded live" side. This video has everything BUT the kitchen sink & a gun thrown in! For those of you who have often requested this, Enjoy! (p.s. I don't believe in violence against women...I am one...but this IS the blues!) For a great short bio on Bromberg, please see the link below. DB live performing Jerry Jeff Walker's Mr. Bojangles. Arguably, this is the best version you're ever going to hear of this song. You should look up Bromberg's version of MR BLUE which I also posted. You won't believe it's the same song that is so familiar to you. The Fleetwood's doo wop version is so lah-di-dah you forget what the song is about. Listen to Bromberg's version. His interpretation will drop your jaw.

Well I ain't goin' down that big long lonesome road
Pretty baby don't you hear me talkin'
No I ain't goin' down that big road by myself
If I can't carrry you baby
I'm gonna get me someone else
Alright boys
Well the sun is gonna shine in my back door some
My back door some, my door someday
You know the sun is gonna shine in
My back door some day
That big wind is gonna come up and blow my blues away
Now if you don't want me baby
Now why don't you tell me
Now why don't you tell me, tell me so
If you don't want me baby why don't you tell me so
It ain't like I'm a woman who ain't got no place to go
Play it right now
Now what good is a bulldog, if he won't fuss or
He won't fuss or fight pretty baby
What good is a bulldog, if he won't fuss or fight.
