United Kingdom is the fourth album by American Music Club. It was recorded primarily for the UK, where the band had a larger following than in their native USA, and consists of a mixture of studio and live tracks. The LP was produced by Tom Mallon who also produced the band's previous three LPs, The Restless Stranger, Engine and California. United Kingdom contained the song "Kathleen", the most obvious of many that Mark Eitzel has composed about his long-term muse, Kathleen Burns.
The Conservative Party was founded in 1834 from the Tory Party—giving rise to the Conservatives' colloquial name of Tories—and was one of two dominant parties in the 19th century, along with the Liberal Party. In the 1920s, the Liberal vote greatly diminished and the Labour Party became the Conservatives' main rivals. Conservative Prime Ministers led governments for 57 years of the 20th century, including Winston Churchill (1940–45, 1951–55) and Margaret Thatcher (1979–90). Thatcher's tenure led to wide-ranging economic liberalisation and saw the Conservatives become the most eurosceptic of the three major parties.
Conservative Party (in Spanish: Partido Conservador, PC) is a Panamanian political party.
Panama inherited the traditional political parties of Colombia – the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party – which vied against one another from 1903 until the 1920s.
The local section, less doctrinaire than its Colombian parent, included most of the new nation's white minority, and was led by Manuel Amador Guerrero who served as the republic's first President. Although Manuel Amador Guerrero actively supported the break with Colombia, most Conservatives had reservations about it.
“The Conservatives had never identified strongly with the independence movement and were not able to develop a mass following. The dominant political focus was rather on divisions within the Liberal Party”.
The chief divergence between their programs is on the question of public instruction, the Liberal Party favoring an educational system free from church control, and the Conservative Party advocating instruction under church auspices. “The ideological lines of liberalism and conservatism have never coincided with actual party lines. The real division has always been between the Government party and the Opposition party; and Liberals and Conservatives have figured on both sides. Since the revolution of 2 January 1931, party lines have become more indistinct than ever”.
Subsequently, as the party grew more liberal, its ideological differences with the Liberal Party dwindled, and many of its members joined the Liberals or other political organizations. Continuous Liberal Party success after 1912 severely damaged the Conservative Party, and by the 1920s it had ceased to be a serious factor in Panamanian politics.
By the early 1920s, most of the Conservative leaders of the independence generation had died without leaving political heirs.

UK election analysis: Why did Boris Johnson's Conservatives win big? | DW News
The 2019 UK general election results are in and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservatives have won an outright majority in the UK election. The opposition Labour Party has suffered a historic defeat. Boris Johnson's gamble to call a snap election just before Christmas has paid off after his Conservative Party won. But it wasn't quite as easy as he's hoped. Many are now asking which side of Boris Johnson will they get? The right wing pro Brexit leader or the more affable liberal Tory. In the early hours, Johnson appeared at his own constituency count and said his government had been given a "powerful new mandate" to finally take the UK out of the European Union. The Labour party blamed Brexit for their crushing losses.

UK Election 2019: Boris Johnson's Conservatives win majority - BBC News
Boris Johnson is back in Number 10 Downing Street tonight, this time as prime minister of a majority Conservative government, after a notable victory in yesterday's election, where his party made sweeping gains in England and Wales. The Liberal Democrats also had a bruising night - their leader Jo Swinson lost her seat to the Scottish National Party. Indeed, across Scotland, the SNP made sweeping gains winning 48 of the 59 seats available. The electoral map of the UK was redrawn overnight.
With all seats declared, this is the state of the parties. The Conservatives have 365 seats; Labour 203; the SNP 48; the Lib Dems 11; the DUP 8; Plaid Cymru 4 ; and other parties 11.
Sophie Raworth presents today's BBC News at Six and hears from the BBC's political editor Laura Kuenssberg, political correspondent Alex Forsyth and deputy political editor John Pienaar.
