Heart Attack Explained (Animation)
When the blood supply that oxygenates the heart muscle is significantly decreased or stopped entirely, a heart attack happens. This occurs as a result of plaque, which is a mass of cholesterol, fat, and other compounds, blocking the coronary arteries that provide blood to the heart muscle. This sluggish progression is referred to as atherosclerosis. A blood clot forms on plaque that ruptures in a cardiac artery. This blood clot may obstruct the artery that supplies the heart muscle with blood. #shorts #animation #anatomy #heart #heartattack

Do you know why the heart is so important? In The Human Heart for Kids video, you will learn that the heart, apart from pumping blood, also carries lots of other important things throughout the body. The heart is an organ made up mostly of muscle, and it plays a vital role in keeping you and your body healthy and strong.
The human heart is one the most important organs of the body that is essential for survival. It is part of the circulatory system, which is the body system that carries blood and other substances to and from the heart. The other main parts of the circulatory system are blood vessels, which include veins, arteries, and capillaries. And the heart beats automatically because it's controlled by the autonomic nervous system. In 24 hours, your heart averages about 115,000 beats per day!
So how does the heart work exactly? Well, the heart consists of left and right ventricles at the bottom and left and right atriums at the top. Blood pushes through the atriums into the ventricles on each side of the heart through little "gates" every time the heart beats. These gates basically help ensure the blood flows in the right direction. The blood travels through the different vessels throughout the rest of the body. You can think of blood vessels as little train tracks that carry blood to different parts of the body. The trip for a single drop of blood throughout the body takes only about a minute.
Blood carries oxygen, food, minerals, and vitamins as well, and all these things help your body move, grow, and make repairs. In fact, they even help you think! The stuff in your blood that the body doesn't need gets set out as waste through the lungs, kidneys, and liver. To keep your heart healthy, there are a few things you can do. Exercising will help strengthen the muscles of your heart. Eating fruits and vegetables also helps keep your arteries clear. Drinking plenty of water is also essential because water makes up about 83% of the heart. If you don't have enough water, your heart can become less and less healthy. https://wn.com/The_Human_Heart_For_Kids_|_Educational_Video_To_Learn_All_About_How_The_Heart_Works
Finally, remember to move around. Moving around helps both your body and your mind.
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about how your heart works! If you want to learn even more, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans about the heart, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

The elephant has always been the most coveted trophy among leisure hunters. Their size – the largest land mammal on the planet – and large ivory tusks have attracted the greed of men who, from the beginning of time have pursued the pachyderm eager for its tusks, its meat and its thick skin.
The devastating slaughters by ivory hunters and the gradual loss of habitats brought on by increased human populations in Africa, reduced an elephant population.
The creation of national parks and a set of international measures including the prohibition of the ivory trade have slowed down what seemed to be a race towards extinction. But for elephants, the future is still uncertain.
One of the best African parks for observing and studying elephants is Amboseli, in southern Kenya.
Elephants play in important role in the ecosystem where they live. They are one of the few animals capable of modifying their surrounding environment which can cause serious environmental problems – and their activity is followed by that of many smaller species.
Amboseli has always been an area where elephants have found protection. The Masai tribe kept poachers at bay and since the creation of the national park the Wildlife Department guards the herds. Consequently, Amboseli is one of the last places in Africa where the elephant population is intact.
The families have members of all ages, from new-borns to matriarchs more than 60 years old. And what is even more rare nowadays, there is a large number of adult males between 40 and 50 years old, when in the rest of Africa few males live beyond the age of 25 since their larger tusks make them the poachers’ first target.
The powerful tusks of African elephants are indispensable instruments. They are tools for digging in the ground in search of water, salt and roots; they are used to remove the bark from trees, as an exhibition element, as a defensive or offensive weapon and as a means of supporting and protecting the trunk. But unfortunately they are made of ivory, which has always attracted the greed of man.
In 1988, an average of three elephants per day were lost to poachers.
The poaching problem not only affects the animals that are killed for their ivory. The death of these adults leaves their offspring helpless; without the group’s protection they have no chance of surviving. Or so it was until David and Daphne Sheldrick arrived at the Tsavo National Park, near Amboseli.
In Amboseli, the dilemma of the elephants lies ahead for those responsible for the park. The elephants are increasing in number and no agreement has been reached on how to control them. But it would be sad to think that man, capable of the greatest scientific and intellectual advances and responsible for the elephants’ situation in Africa, could find no other solution than the barbaric slaughtering of such marvellous creatures.

CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Denys (Robert Redford) shampoos the tangles out of Karen's (Meryl Streep) hair and recites poetry by the river.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Out of Africa is drawn from the life and writings of Danish author Isak Dinesen, who during the time that the film's events occured was known by her married name, Karen Blixen-Flecke. For convenience's sake, Karen (Meryl Streep) has married Baron Bor Blixen-Flecke (Klaus Maria Brandauer). In 1914, the Baron moves himself and his wife to a plantation in Nairobi, then leaves Karen to her own devices as he returns to his womanizing and drinking. Soon, Karen has fallen in love with charming white hunter Denys Finch Hatton (Robert Redford), who prefers a no-strings relationship. A woman who prides herself on her independence, Blixen finds herself unhappily in thrall to a aloof man -- and doubly unhappy for living out such a cliché situation. Although Redford received a lion's share of criticism for his too-American performance, Streep has rarely been better, and the film's perfectly measured pace is offset by David Watkin's stunning location photography. The movie was nominated for 11
Academy Awards and won 7, including Best Picture, Best Director for Sydney Pollack, Best Adapted Screenplay for Kurt Luedtke, and Best Cinematography for Watkin.
CREDITS:
TM & © Universal (1985)
Cast: Robert Redford, Meryl Streep
Director: Sydney Pollack
Producers: Anna Cataldi, Terence A. Clegg, Kim Jorgensen, Sydney Pollack, Judith Thurman
Screenwriters: Karen Blixen, Judith Thurman, Errol Trzebinski, Kurt Luedtke
