Šariš is the traditional name of a region situated in northeastern Slovakia. It encompasses the territory of the former (comitatus) Sáros county.
History
Šariš county was created before the 13th century from the comitatus Novi Castri (named after Novum Castrum, today Abaújvár), which also included the later counties Abov and Heves. The county's territory was situated along Torysa and upper Topľa rivers. Its area was 3,652km² around 1910. The original seat of the county was Šariš Castle and since the 17th century, Prešov.
Ari Atoll (also called Alif or Alufu Atoll) is one of natural atolls of the Maldives. It is one of the biggest atolls and is located in the west of the archipelago. The almost rectangular alignment spreads the islands over an area of about 89x30 kilometres. It has been divided in two sections for administrative purposes, Northern Ari Atoll and Southern Ari Atoll consisting of 105 islands. Ari Atoll is part of the zone designated for tourist development in the Maldives. It is roughly a 30-minute seaplane flight away from the Capital Malé.
There are more than 20 islands in the Atoll designated for tourist resorts. Each island resort is self-contained with accommodation and recreational facilities such as tennis court. Scuba diving is the most popular tourist activity in the Maldives. The diving in Ari Atoll is extensive and is often defined by location within the atoll, either North or South.
The main tourist resorts were Ari Beach, Halaveli, Maayyafushi, Twin Islands Resort, Dhoni Mighilli and Twin Island Resort.
Ari could refer to names of various languages, or shortened versions of other names.
Azerbaijani
Means "Bee".
Arabic
"Ari" a variant of Ara (Arabic), and the meaning of Ari is "brings rain".
Albanian
"Ari" means "gold" in Albanian. Ari is also a male first name that means "bear" (the animal).
Armenian
"Ari" is a male first name that means "fearless" or "brave".
Badaga
In the Badaga language, "Ari" ("A:ri") has a literal meaning of "sun-like" and is used as a male name, sometimes changed to "Harry" in the case of converts to Christianity.
Bulgarian
Short form of "Asparuch".
Ethiopia
The word "Ari" (usually written as "Aari") refers to an ethnic group in Ethiopia. The Ari people inhabit the northern part of the Mago National Park in Ethiopia and have the largest territory of all the tribes in the area. They have fertile lands allowing them to have several types of plantations. An Ari's crop can consist of grains, coffee, fruits and honey. It's also common for them to have large herds of livestock. Their women are known for selling pottery and wearing skirts made from banana trees called enset. The Aari is one of the tribes whose culture and language remain less explored in Ethiopia. There are a few ethnographic works on the Aari tribe by Dr. Gebre Yntiso, a well known anthropologist and a professor at Addis Ababa University.
Caly was a cruise liner owned by Louis Cruises, and was under charter to Thomson Cruises, part of TUI Travel at one time. Earlier names of the ship are Canguro Verde, Durr, Ionian Harmony, Sun Fiesta, Regent Jewel, Calypso and The Calypso. In April 2013, she was beached in Alang, India, for scrapping.
On Saturday 6 May 2006 at 4 am the starboard engine caught fire 16 miles off Eastbourne while it was carrying 708 people from Tilbury to Saint Peter Port on Guernsey. The crew put the fire out. The passengers meanwhile were assemble in the designated emergency stations, which however did not need to be launched. The fire caused extensive damage to the ship and she was out of action through the early part of the (northern hemisphere) summer cruising season.
Calypso initially appeared as a minor character The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1, #209 and Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man Vol. 1, #65, where was she was an ally of Spider-Man's enemy Kraven the Hunter. After Kraven's death, Calypso bewitched the Lizard into helping her attack Spider-Man in Spider-Man Vol. 1, #1-5, then made guest appearances in Daredevil Vol. 1, #310-311 and Daredevil Annual Vol. 1, #9. Calypso next appeared in Web of Spider-Man Vol. 1, #109-110 and Spider-Man Annual 1997, and was killed-off in a storyline that spanned The Spectacular Spider-Man Vol. 1, #249-253.
Fictional character biography
Calypso was a nameless voodoo priestess of Haitian nationality. She was a psychopathic woman who was associated with Sergei Kravinoff. Calypso seemed to enjoy driving Kraven into fits of rage and furthering his hatred of Spider-Man, which ultimately led to Kraven's suicide in the Kraven's Last Hunt storyline.

Yma Sumac - Gopher Mambo (Capitol Records 1954)
Mambo! is the fifth studio album by Peruvian soprano Yma Sumac. It was released on 1954 by Capitol Records. It was entirely composed by Moisés Vivanco.

She became an international success based on her extreme vocal range, which was said to be "well over four octaves" and was sometimes claimed to span even five octaves at her peak.
Stories published in the 1950s claimed that she was an Incan princess, directly descended from Atahualpa. Stories published in the 1950s claimed that she was an Incan princess, directly descended from Atahualpa. Her New York Times obituary reported that "the largest and most persistent fabrication about Ms. Sumac was that she was actually a housewife from Brooklyn named Amy Camus, her name spelled backward. The fact is that the government of Peru in 1946 formally supported her claim to be descended from Atahualpa, the last Incan emperor".
Chávarri adopted the stage name of Imma Sumack (also spelled Ymma Sumack and Ima Sumack) before she left South America to go to the United States. The stage name was based on her mother's name, which was derived from Ima Shumaq, Quechua for "how beautiful!" although in interviews she claimed it meant "beautiful flower" or "beautiful girl".
Yma Sumac first appeared on radio in 1942. Sumac and orchestra and bandleader Moisés Vianco were married that year. She recorded at least 18 tracks of Peruvian folk songs in Argentina in 1943. These early recordings for the Odeon label featured Moisés Vivanco's group, Compañía Peruana de Arte, a group of 46 Indian dancers, singers, and musicians.
In 1946 Sumack and Vivanco moved to New York City, where they performed as the Inka Taky Trio, Sumack singing soprano, Vivanco on guitar, and her cousin Cholita Rivero singing contralto and dancing. She was signed by Capitol Records in 1950, at which time her stage name became Yma Sumac.
During the 1950s, Yma Sumac produced a series of lounge music recordings featuring Hollywood-style versions of Incan and South American folk songs, working with the likes of Les Baxter and Billy May. The combination of her extraordinary voice, exotic looks, and stage personality made her a hit with American audiences. Sumac appeared in a Broadway musical, Flahooley, in 1951, as a foreign princess who brings Aladdin's lamp to an American toy factory to have it repaired. The show's score was by Sammy Fain and E. Y. "Yip" Harburg, but Sumac's three numbers were the work of Vivanco with one co-written by Vivanco and Fain. Capitol Records, Sumac's label, recorded the show. Flahooley closed quickly, but the recording continues as a cult classic, in part because it also marked the Broadway debut of Barbara Cook. During the height of Sumac's popularity, she appeared in the films Secret of the Incas (1954) and Omar Khayyam (1957). She became a U.S. citizen on July 22, 1955. In 1959 she performed Jorge Bravo de Rueda's classic song "Vírgenes del Sol" on her album Fuego del Ande.
In 1992 Guenter Czernetzky directed a documentary for German television entitled Yma Sumac -- Hollywoods Inkaprinzessin (Yma Sumac -- Hollywood's Inca Princess).
With the resurgence of lounge music in the late 1990s, Sumac's profile rose again when the song "Ataypura" was featured in the Coen Brothers film, The Big Lebowski. Her song "Bo Mambo" appeared in a commercial for Kahlúa liquor and was sampled for the song "Hands Up" by The Black Eyed Peas. The song "Gopher Mambo" was used in the films Ordinary Decent Criminal, Dead Husbands, Spy Games, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. "Gopher Mambo" was also used in an act of the Cirque Du Soleil show Quidam. The songs "Goomba Boomba" and "Malambo No. 1" appeared in Death to Smoochy. Yma Sumac is also mentioned in the lyrics of the 1980s song Joe le taxi by Vanessa Paradis.
Yma Sumac died on November 1, 2008, aged 86 at an assisted-living home in Los Angeles, nine months after being diagnosed with colon cancer. She was interred at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood in the "Sanctuary of Memories" section.

Mambo! is the fifth studio album by Peruvian soprano Yma Sumac. It was released on 1954 by Capitol Records. It was entirely composed by Moisés Vivanco.
Yma Sumac (September 13, 1922 - November 1, 2008) was a noted Peruvian singer. In the 1950s, she was one of the most famous proponents of exotica music. She became an international success based on her extreme vocal range, which was said to be "well over four octaves" and was sometimes claimed to span even five octaves at her peak.
Stories published in the 1950s claimed that she was an Incan princess, directly descended from Atahualpa.
Šariš is the traditional name of a region situated in northeastern Slovakia. It encompasses the territory of the former (comitatus) Sáros county.
