Camp Hill was built in 1912 using prisoner labour from Parkhurst Prison. Camp Hill was formally opened by Winston Churchill.
In a report in April 2007, Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Prisons criticised Camp Hill for its lack of a coherent and positive direction, and its failure to improve. Concerns were also raised at the amount of inmates not in vocational work at the prison. In January 2008 a convicted drug dealer refused to leave his cell in Camp Hill for a court appearance. Citing the 1998 Human Rights Act, the prisoner claimed his human rights would be breached if he was forced to leave, due to fears he would lose his cell to another inmate amid an overcrowding crisis at Camp Hill.

Camp Hill, Alabama ~ Almost Abandoned Town ❤
incorporated in 1895. Only 1,000 people and sadly not growing. 85% African American. This little town has some interesting urban decay and ruins from the past. Hopefully change can revitalize the town and it can be saved from its current condition. The town has many historic homes some of which are in bad shape, other already to far gone to be saved. Very friendly people. Interesting history here. We also found some cool items roadside as it was a garbage day. some cool shutters I might use if i build a barn.

Camp Hill Disaster 163 years later
Ever wonder where the town of Ambler got it's name? The answer comes from this tragedy. I gave it the Montgomery county name because it's the most proper name for where this took place even though it's known as the Great Train Wreck of 1856 by most people. I dont know if I've got anymore planned for July especially since I've started driving lessons but we'll see.
