Built to Last is the thirteenth and final studio album by the Grateful Dead. It was recorded between February 1 and October 20, 1989 and originally released on October 31, 1989.
The album was released on CD in 1989 by Arista Records before being rereleased in 2000 by BMG International. It was then remastered, expanded, and released as part of the Beyond Description (1973–1989) 12-CD box set in October 2004. The remastered version was later released separately on CD on April 11, 2006 by Rhino Records.
This album features the most songs by keyboard player Brent Mydland, who has four song credits in collaboration with Dead lyricist John Perry Barlow. This mirrored accurately Mydland's increasing vocal presence in the band over the decade he spent with the Dead.
Track listing
Original release
"Foolish Heart" (Garcia, Hunter) – 5:10 (lead singer: Jerry Garcia)
"Just a Little Light" (Barlow, Mydland) – 4:42 (lead singer: Brent Mydland)
"Built to Last" (Garcia, Hunter) – 5:03 (lead singer: Jerry Garcia)
Built to Last is an American sitcom that aired on NBC on Wednesday evening at 8:30 EST from September 24, 1997, to October 15, 1997.
Premise
Set in Washington D.C., the series centered on Royale Watkins, who put his career on hold to help run the family business, Watkins Construction, after his father had a mild heart attack. Actor Royale Watkin's real-life father ran an actual Watkins Construction in D.C.
Built to Last is the fifth studio album by Canadian rapperMaestro, released December 9, 1998 on Attic Records. It was his first album released exclusively in Canada. Before its release, he shortened his alias Maestro Fresh-Wes to simply "Maestro". Singles from the album include "Stick to Your Vision" and "416/905 (T.O. Party Anthem)". It was nominated for Best Rap Recording at the 1999 Juno Awards.
Background
After living in Brooklyn, New York for most of the 1990s, Maestro moved back to Toronto in 1997. Although his attempt at commercial success in the U.S. was a failure, he worked on a comeback album with local hip hop and R&B artists. The first single, "Stick to Your Vision", became Maestro's biggest hit since "Let Your Backbone Slide" was released nine years prior. It reached the top 20 on the Canadian Singles Chart.

LYRICS:
CHORUS:
I was built to last with the webs I’m weaving
I can change the past with all I’m achieving
Got my foot on gas never stop competing
If you break like glass then this life’s gonna eat'em
Make mistakes real fast then ya learn how to beat'em
If you take off the cast you can see all the healing
If the pains in the past move on from the grieving
Put your foot on the gas no never stop competing yeah
VERSE 1:
I wanna be the best in the game
Invest in my name
Check no restraints
I'm obsessed with the pain
I ingest I retain
Assess and I change
Possessed by the thought I’ll be free one day
From society’s restraints
Money clout and fame
A disease a plague
we all love to hate
Have to play the game
Have to make a name
All our insecurities are on display
This is war!
With the enemy
Think that it was meant to be
Living in a time, where disease is on every screen
I won’t let them fester me
I know most are festering
Negativity is a plague for the mentally
Weak!
No mercy
All I GOT is working
Never STOP searching
Never quench the thirsty
I’m toxic and psychotic with this logic you can’t stop it it’s been chronic since I was a boy so Neurotic and chaotic
VERSE 2:
I’ve been doing this I’m on it
I just wanna be iconic
Sippin on a gin and tonic
Got me going off when I’m on this topic yea
If I ever play I want it
You know that I’m always honest
Stay away from those who are toxic
Keep'em out ya face no way you don’t want em yea
Don’t try to drain my energy the enemy is everything it’s mentally unhealthily spreading like a rare Disease but I won’t let it get to me
I don’t need your therapy
I can leave a legacy of leading by intensity
Come on we can fight this
Freedom is priceless
Spread just like a virus
Living in a crisis
Do you feel courageous?
Do you seek greatness?
Trust me you can take it
Go on and take your aim man!

Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies by Jim Collins and Jerry I. Porras. | Book Review & Summary
The authors identified two primary objectives for the research published in the book:
1) “to identify underlying characteristics are common to highly visionary companies” and
2) “to effectively communicate findings so that they can influence management”.
The book introduced a number of key ideas, including:
1) Clock Building, Not Time Telling - go beyond a great leader to building a great institution
2) No "Tyranny of the "Or" - embrace the genius of "and"
3) More Than Profits - find your organization's purpose and build the "core ideology"
4) Preserve the Core / Stimulate Progress - change everything readily, except the core beliefs and values
5) Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAGs) - think big, aim high
6) Cult-Like cultures - cult-like adherence to the culture
7) Try a Lot of Stuff and Keep What works - try a lot of experiments and keep what works
8) Home-Grown Management - hire leaders from within
9) Good Enough Never Is - strive to do better tomorrow than you did today

LYRICS:
