Robert F. Logan, Jr. (born May 29, 1941) is an American actor who has appeared in numerous films and television programs, the most notable of which were a successful series of family adventure movies in the 1970s.
Born in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, Logan is the eldest of seven children born to bank executive Robert Logan, Sr. Young "R.J." was active in high school sports; he received a baseball scholarship to the University of Arizona at Tucson. There he was spotted by a Warner Bros. talent agent. Logan is recognized by many for his roles in family-oriented films such as the Wilderness Family film series.
From 1961 to 1963, Logan played J.R. Hale, the young valet parking attendant on ABC's 77 Sunset Strip. Logan succeeded the previous attendant, Kookie, played by Edward Byrnes, who in the story line became a full-fledged investigator. From 1965-1966, Logan played the part of Jericho Jones on NBC's Daniel Boone.
Robert Logan Senior (1837–1919) was notable boat builder and the founder of the Logan boat building and boat designing dynasty.
Early life
He was born in Dumbarton, Scotland, in 1837, and was educated in Glasgow. By the early 1870s Robert was foreman of a boat-building firm of Robert Steele & Co in Greenock on the River Clyde. During this time he received a commission from his older brother James who had emigrated to New Zealand in 1864 and was now based in Auckland. He was to build a small steamer, named the Eclipse, for the service from Auckland to Riverhead at the head of the Waitemata Harbour and have it shipped there from Glasgow.
Emigration to New Zealand
Subsequently Robert Logan decided to join his brother and together with his family emigrated to New Zealand, arriving in Auckland on the Zealandia on 15 October 1874. The family settled in Devonport, where he obtained a position at the Niccol boat building firm.
In 1878 he set up in business as a boat builder in Devonport, close to what was then called the Flagstaff Wharf. Initially business was difficult, specially as he had a large family to support.
Robert Logan (2 April 1863 – 4 February 1935) was a New Zealand runholder, local politician, military leader and administrator. He was born in Langton, Berwickshire, Scotland on 2 April 1863.
Logan migrated to New Zealand from Scotland in 1881 aged 19. He became a farmer and Mounted Rifles volunteer and a member of the New Zealand Staff Corps, and rose to command the Auckland Military District just prior to the War.
Colonel Robert Logan was a key figure in the wartime administration of Western Samoa and was subsequently decorated by the French Government. He remained the Military Administrator and British representative to Samoa from the initial occupation to the end of the War, and was awarded the Croix de Chevalier of the Légion d’honneur in December 1919 ‘in recognition of valuable services in Samoa during the first year of the military occupation of that territory’.
In Samoa he tried to win local sentiment but struggled with complex economic and indigenous issues, and significantly mishandled the arrival of the influenza pandemic in November 1918, resulting in over 7,500 deaths. Logan left Samoa in January 1919 and was condemned for negligence in his handling of the Samoan influenza outbreak by a New Zealand commission of inquiry (American Samoa was quarantined by the Governor, John Martin Poyer, and had no influenza deaths).
Budapest (Hungarian:[ˈbudɒpɛʃt]; names in other languages) is the capital and the largest city of Hungary, and one of the largest cities in the European Union. It is the country's principal political, cultural, commercial, industrial, and transportation centre, sometimes described as the primate city of Hungary. According to the census, in 2011 Budapest had 1.74 million inhabitants, down from its 1989 peak of 2.1 million due to suburbanisation. The Budapest Metropolitan Area is home to 3.3 million people. The city covers an area of 525 square kilometres (202.7sqmi). Budapest became a single city occupying both banks of the river Danube with the unification of Buda and Óbuda on the west bank, with Pest on the east bank on 17November 1873.
"Budapest" is a song by British singer-songwriter George Ezra, from his debut studio album, Wanted on Voyage (2014). It was released as the album's second single on 13 December 2013 in Italy, and on 13 June 2014 in the United Kingdom. The song was co-written by Ezra with Joel Pott and produced by Cam Blackwood.
The single was released on Columbia Records, and distributed by Sony Music, and peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart. "Budapest" has also been a major hit for Ezra in Austria and New Zealand, topping the charts in both countries, while reaching the top ten in Australia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands and Switzerland. It was the 13th-best-selling single of 2014 in the UK. The song was released in the U.S. in 2015 and has peaked at number 32.
Background
Ezra told The Daily Telegraph that "Budapest" was "[his] first attempt to write a love song, and it uses the first three guitar chords [he] ever learned. There's a lot to be said for that simplicity." Ezra has also insisted that, despite its title, the lyrics of "Budapest" do not have anything to do with the city in Hungary and that he had never even been there before. He said, "I was in Malmö in Sweden and the Eurovision Song Contest was being held in Malmö on that night, and I didn't have a clue about it but everyone there seemed to be really excited about it and having parties. But I didn't know you couldn't buy alcohol after 10 o'clock at night. So I ended up buying a bottle of like, rum, or something like that from a guy in a park so I could have something to drink at this party. Anyway, I was meant to be getting a train to Budapest the next day, and I never got it because I was too hungover and didn't fancy it. So I wrote the song about being miles from Budapest."
