Charles Thomas "Stompin' Tom" Connors, OC (February 9, 1936– March 6, 2013) was a Canadiancountry and folksinger-songwriter. Focusing his career exclusively on his native Canada, Connors is credited with writing more than 300 songs and has released four dozen albums, with total sales of nearly 4 million copies. Connors died at 77 in his home in Ballinafad, Ontario, of renal failure.
Isabel's family were Protestant, and his maternal grandfather, John Connors, was a sea captain from Boston, Massachusetts who had died before Stompin' Tom was born. Stompin' Tom's father was a Catholic of Irish and French ancestry, and "may have been Métis or ... Micmac." Isabel Connors and Thomas Joseph Sullivan didn't wed until 30 years later, probably because Sullivan's family were devout Catholics and didn't want him marrying a Protestant; they later divorced. Sullivan's mother gave him $10, and was told to leave home. Connors was also cousin of New Brunswick fiddling sensation, Ned Landry.
"Bud the Spud" is a song by Stompin' Tom Connors released in 1969 on the album Bud The Spud and Other Favourites. The song is an account of a trucker who hauls potatoes from Prince Edward Island. The song became known through word-of-mouth as well as through radio airplay on CBC Radio. The song was made available digitally for the first time on Canada Day in 2008.
The song was turned into an illustrated children's book in 1994 featuring Bud the truck driver, and his dog.
Chart performance
"Bud the Spud" peaked at number 26 on the RPM Country Tracks chart on February 28, 1970.
Bud the Spud is an iconic chip truck in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. In operation since 1977, it is parked outside the Spring Garden Road branch of the Halifax Public Libraries each summer. The edge of the library is marked by a low concrete wall, and it is there that most customers sit and eat their fries. The truck sells hand-cut French fries made from Prince Edward Island potatoes, and sourced from one farmer, David Dawson. Unlike most other chip trucks it sells only fries and drinks.
The truck was operated by Bud and Nancy True until 2010. The business operates only during the summer months; the Trues spent the rest of the year travelling. In early 2009 the Trues decided to retire and sell the business. Due to the economic downturn, buyers for the business were unable to obtain financing, and the truck is still being operated by the Trues for another summer. It was purchased in 2010 by Glenn Tait.
Food critic Calvin Trillin, who summers in Nova Scotia, praised the truck in the New Yorker writing that "some summers, I would catch myself concocting an unlikely errand in Halifax, an hour and three-quarters from where I live, just to get within striking distance of Bud the Spud."
Professor Thomas Anthony Connors (18 December 1934 – 4 February 2002) was a British cancer research scientist.
Connors was for 40 years involved in the development of anti-cancer drugs including cis-platinum and its derivative, carbo-platin, two effective anti-cancer agents. Connors' initial research was under the auspices of mentor and friend Professor Walter Ross at the Chester Beatty Institute where he gained his Doctorate in 1960. In 1976 Connors' career expanded into the field of toxicology and he was appointed Director of the Medical Research Council's toxicology unit. Connors also sat on committees including the Cancer Research Campaign. He formed the Phase I/II Drug Development Committee during this period. Connors also advised overseas institutes and their governments. and was a special advisor to President Gerald Ford. On retirement in 1994 Connors was appointed Honorary Professor at the School of Pharmacy, University of London.
Connors was awarded many honours including honorary degrees from several universities, Including Aston (1997) and Dublin Trinity in 2001. He has a research unit named after him at Bradford University.

It's bud the spud from the bright red mud
Rollin' down the Highway smiling-
The Spuds are big on the back of Bud's rig
And they're from Prince Edward Island they're from Prince Edward Island
Now from Charlottetown or from Summerside
They load him down for the big long ride
He jumps in the cab and he's off with the pride Sobagos
He's gotta catch the boat to make Tormentine & he heads up that old New Brunswick line
Through Montreal he comes just a flyin with another big load a potatoes.

That's been rippin the tar off the 401-
They know the name on the truck shines up in the sun-"Green Gables."
But he hits Toronto and it's 7 O'Clock when he backs er up agin the terminal dock.

We must regretfully announce today the passing of the Great and Patriotic Stompin' Tom Connors. He died this March 6th 2013 with his Family seeing him off. His family have given us a message from Tom that he wanted passed along to all of you upon his death:
"Hello friends, I want all my fans, past, present, or future, to know that without you, there would have not been any Stompin' Tom."
"It was a long hard bumpy road, but this great country kept me inspired with it's beauty, character, and spirit, driving me to keep marching on and devoted to sing about its people and places that make Canada the greatest country in the world."
"I must now pass the torch, to all of you, to help keep the Maple Leaf flying high, and be the Patriot Canada needs now and in the future."
"I humbly thank you all, one last time, for allowing me in your homes, I hope I continue to bring a little bit of cheer into your lives from the work I have done."
Sincerely,
Your Friend always,
Stompin' Tom Connors

It's bud the spud from the bright red mud
Rollin' down the Highway smiling-
The Spuds are big on the back of Bud's rig
And they're from Prince Edward Island they're from Prince Edward Island
Now the Ontario Provincial Police don't think mucha Bud...
Yeah the cops a been lookin for the son of a gun
That's been rippin the tar off the 401-
They know the name on the truck shines up in the sun-"Green Gables."
But he hits Toronto and it's 7 O'Clock when he backs er up agin the terminal dock.
And the boys gather round just to hear him talk
About another big load a potatoes!
It's bud the spud from the bright red mud
Rollin' down the Highway smiling-
The Spuds are big on the back of Bud's rig
And they're from Prince Edward Island they're from Prince Edward Island
Now I know a lot of people from east to west
That like the spuds from the island best.
Cause they'll stand up to the hardest test-right on the table.
So when ya see that big truck rollin by- wave yer hand or kinda wink yer eye,
Cause that's Bud the Spud from old PEI, with another big load a potatoes!
It's bud the spud from the bright red mud
Rollin' down the Highway smiling-
Slow-because he's got another big load,
Of the best dog gone potatoes that's ever been growed
And they're from Prince Edward Island They're from Prince Edward Island

I created this video as a tribute to Stompin Tom Connors. It's my first animated video, and while it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, I think it's pretty good. Hope you all enjoy it.
Me and my friend Taylor had to make a video relating to a Canadian song. So she picked Bud the spud. We had to collect pictures that represented the words.
YES. I added a troll face on the potato. Because Bud is trolling.
I do not own ANY of the pictures, other than the picture that I drew of me and my friend Taylor. I drew that myself, but the other pictures I found on google
The song also does not belong to me.
