Bob Montgomery (May 12, 1937 – December 4, 2014) was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer/publisher.
Montgomery was born in Lampasas, Texas, United States. He was a songwriting partner and best friend of Buddy Holly, performing together as the duo "Buddy and Bob" while teenagers in high school. Initially, they were playing a variety of bluegrass music that evolved to the rockabilly sounds.
Montgomery met Holly at Hutchinson Junior High School in Lubbock, Texas, in 1949. They joined up and started playing at school assemblies and on local radio shows. Montgomery sang lead and Holly harmonized. They soon had a weekly Sunday radio show on station KDAV. On October 14, 1955, Bill Haley & His Comets did a concert at the Fair Park Auditorium which also featured Montgomery, Holly and bassist Larry Welborn on the bill. Eddie Crandall, Marty Robbins' manager, spoke to KDAV station owner Pappy Dave Stone and told him he was interested in Holly as a solo performer. Holly's career then began after demo recordings of his music were made and sent to Decca Records.
Bob Montgomery (February 10, 1919 – August 25, 1998) was an American lightweight boxer. He was born in Sumter, South Carolina.
Montgomery went undefeated in his first 23 fights, going 22-0-1 and winning the Pennsylvania State Lightweight Title.
Montgomery beat Julie Kogon three times. Their first fight was at the Broadway Arena in Brooklyn on January 28, 1941, which Montgomery won by decision. They fought again on October 24 that same year, this time at the Chicago Coliseum, a fight Montgomery again took by decision. The two squared off for the last time on June 2, 1947 in Kogon's hometown at the New Haven Arena, but the result was still the same.
Montgomery lost to former lightweight champ Sammy Angott by split decision at Shibe Park on July 7, 1942.
In 1942 Montgomery had two battles with Maxie Shapiro. In the first fight Bob lost by decision in Philadelphia, but he won the rematch two months later by unanimous decision in the same arena.
Robert Edward "Bob" Montgomery (born April 16, 1944) is a former American baseballcatcher who played ten seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). Nicknamed "Monty", he played his entire career for the Boston Red Sox from 1970 to 1979. He batted and threw right-handed and also played six games at first base.
Montgomery signed for the Boston Red Sox as an amateur free agent in 1962 and played for seven of their minor league affiliates until 1970, when the Red Sox promoted him to the major leagues. There, he served as the team's backup catcher behind future Hall of FamememberCarlton Fisk. He spent the next nine years with the Red Sox and played his last game on September 9, 1979. Montgomery is most famous for being the last major league player to bat without wearing a batting helmet.
Personal life
Montgomery was born on April 16, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee. Baseball played a huge role in his family; his father frequently took part in sandlot ball, while his brother Gerald played for several minor league affiliates of the Boston Red Sox. Montgomery attended Nashville's Central High School. Although he actively participated in three sports, he was most inclined to baseball, playing in the oufield, at first base and pitching.

When I was naming the clips for this video, I labeled one "Classic Montgomery Face" and it made me realize how I could never do a tribute for any modern day actor. No one brings theirself to their character anymore. It is all about adopting a "realistic" approach to the character. Well I don't want real. And that's why I make these tributes.
It is obvious that Robert Montgomery was like most of his characters in real life. You only have to watch Bewitched and see Samantha make those same comical faces as her father's doppelganger. So Happy Birthday Mr. Montgomery, you were an original.

In Our Dreams We See Forever - Robert Montgomery

This video follows their journey – from the artwork’s conception to its launch.
"I've been proud to work with an amazing group of blind and partially sighted children on this project. I chose to film them talking about their dreams to give an insight into their vivid and charming imaginations, and also because in a way we are all equal when we dream. RSBC does amazing work in fighting prejudice and opening up life opportunities for this often overlooked group of young people who desperately need our support to live fuller lives." (Rob...
