The area of Bihać was populated by the tribe of Iapydes (Japodes) as early as the 8th century B.C. The Iapydes left many remains that testify about their presence in this area.
During the 2nd century B.C. this area was populated by Romans. It's in this period that the river Una was given its name by a Roman soldier (Latin: una- one, unique). The only important remains left behind the Romans are roads. In the 6th century this area is populated by Slavs, an Indo-European group of people.
The name of Bihać was first mentioned as early as 1260 as property of a church in Topusko, Croatia in a document by the Hungarian-Croatian king Béla IV, and became a free city in 1262. Bihać was the temporary capital of the Croatian Kingdom. It lost its civic status in the 14th century following dynastic struggles in the kingdom, and became a property of the Frankopan nobles. In the 16th century it passed under direct royal rule, when battles with the Ottoman Empire had begun. The town of Bihać, in the region of the same name, withstood the Ottoman attacks until it fell with the Bosnia sanjak (in 1592).
Biha is an administrative unit, known as Union council, of Swat District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
District Swat has 9 Tehsils i.e. Khwazakhela, Kabal, Madyan, Barikot, Mingora, and Kalam. Each Tehsill comprises certain numbers of union councils. There are 65 union councils in district Swat, 56 rural and 09 urban.
The founding ice hockey clubs were Cambridge University, Manchester, Oxford Canadians, Princes and Royal Engineers. The first President of BIHA was Major B M "Peter" Patton.

The city is known for its Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian architecture, including landmarks like the Fethija Mosque (originally a Gothic church) and the Captain's Tower. Bihać's old town area is charming, with narrow streets and historical buildings.Bihać is a gateway to the natural wonders of the region, including the Una River and nearby national parks.
The Una National Park was established in 2008 and is located near Bihać. It covers an area of about 19,800 hectares, protecting the natural environment surrounding the Una River and its tributaries, such as the Unac and Krka rivers. The park is known for its stunning waterfalls, with the Štrbački Buk waterfall being one of the most famous. The emerald-green waters of the Una River, along with its numerous cascades and rapids, make it a picturesque and serene destination.
Together, Bihać and Una National Park offer a combination of cultural history and breathtaking natural landscapes, making it a unique and attractive destination for visitors.

Celebrations swept the formerly besieged Bosnian enclave of Bihac Tuesday while soldiers were feted in the former Serb-held Croatian town of Slunj.
Croatian and Bosnian government forces liberated the two on the weekend as part of a wider Croatian military campaign to recapture Krajina.
Civilians in Bihac are now looking forward to the first U-N humanitarian convoy to enter the town since May 1994.
Croatian celebrations are raging strong in the former Serb held town of Slunj.
Croat government forces recaptured the town on Sunday during a lightning and successful offensive to drive out rebel Croat Serb forces from Krajina.
Guns were fired, and more guns were fired as the soldiers victory celebrations reached fever pitch.
Elsewhere in Slunj, Croat soldiers settled down to celebration drinks, their battle had been a short one but a highly successful one.
Old friends reunited. They had been divided for four years while rebel Serbs occupied the land.
SOUNDBITE: (Serbo-Croat)
"I'm in my home town I lived 32 years I'm now back after four years away, coming back was a dream for me "
SUPER CAPTION: Croat Policeman
In Bihac, an air raid siren rang through the town, but the residents did flee as quickly as they used to.
It used to mean heavy bombardment, but the Croat army and the Bosnian fifth corps have secured the town from four years of Serb attack and the residents of the town are liberated.
Like in Slunj, soldiers in Bihac celebrated.
This boy has grown up knowing only war, a rocket propelled grenade launcher is to play with as though it was a toy.
SOUNDBITE: (Serbo-Croat)
"We are all happier now we have hope, we expect humanitarian aid, the last aid convoy came here in May of last year."
SUPER CAPTION: Bihac resident.
The Bosnian Government fought long and hard for Bihac and now it is free with humanitarian aid now expected to pour in for the residents of the town who had been under siege for so long.
