"Banaadir" is derived from the Persianbandar, which means "port" in reference to the coastal cities of Mogadishu and Barawa. The place name reflects the region's medieval position as a key trade center with Persia and the Arabian peninsula. Banaadir is also known for its local breed of goats.
Its capital is Mogadishu, although the administrative region itself is coextensive with the city. Banaadir is much smaller than the historical region of Benadir, which covers most of the country's central and southern seaboard opposite the Indian Ocean and up to the Juba River, including Mogadishu.
Banaadir is the smallest of Somalia's eighteen administrative regions (gobols).
Yusuf Hussein Jimaale serves as the current Governor of Banaadir, as well as the Mayor of Mogadishu.
THE HISTORY OF ARABS & PERSIANS ON THE BANADIR COAST - Mogadishu, Marka & Barawa
This video provides a concise overview of the history of the Banadir people. It strives to present an authentic portrayal of their past, including their establishment of the city of Mogadishu and other neighbouring coastal cities. The video also touches on the Banadir's interaction with other communities in the Indian Ocean and their role in shaping Somalia's cultural landscape. Overall, the video provides a valuable introduction to the Banadir people and their unique history.
The Banadiris are people with their roots on the Banadir Coast (South Somalia) . Their name is derived from a Persian word "bandar" which means "harbor" or port, reflecting their origins as sea-faring traders who crossed the Indian Ocean to the easternmost part of Africa and established centers of commerce.

During an epic tour of Somalia, while visiting the old Benadir district in Mogadishu, we arrived where the community was having this Dikri ceremony. We have been invited to join like special guests. We are very grateful for their kindness since we have been hosted like old friends.
Somalia is not an easy country to visit, it requires the right precautions and some adaptation spirit, but for sure it is worth all efforts because of the nice people, the culture, the heritage and the nature.

I see you had your mind all made up you group of Pitiful liars. Before I woke to face the day, your master Plan transpired. -Something told me- this job had more to Meet the eye. My song is not believed? My words some- What deceiving? Now I'm unwhole. You've waged a war of nerves But you can't crush the kingdom Can't be what your idols are. Can't leave the scar. You cry for compensation. I ask you please just give us... 5 minutes alone.. Just give us, 5 minutes alone I read your eyes, your mind was made up. You took me for A fool. You used complexion of my skin for a counter Rascist tool. -You can't burn me- I've spilled my guts In the past. Taken advantage of because you know where I've come. My past. You've waged a war of nerves But you can't crush the kingdom Can't be what your idols are. Can't leave the scar. I bury your compensation. I ask you please just give us...
