Life Inside a Medieval Castle (Cross Section)
Medieval Castles needed to be multiple things at once. They needed to be reflections of the leaders they represented – large and stately, suitable for housing the most important people in the world and surrounding them with luxury. But they also needed battlegrounds and strong fortifications that strengthened the defences of a town or city - therefore deterring invasion. The focal point of the towns and cities they defended, the Medieval Castle needed to not only house and support the land it owned, but stand as a signature and representation of the wealth of the crown and its nobles. Sending the message to invaders: 'You will not win here.'

The nightmares of Allied cargo shipping, the German U-Boats reigned supreme in the turbulent seas during 1940-1942. Taking one of these U-Boats as an example, the U-505 submarine sunk an impressive 8 ships and yet still was below the devastating 14:1 average of the early war years. But what did life look like beneath the 1,120 t exterior?

スタン・ケントンは自身の楽団を紹介する曲 “This is an orchestra!” の中で “This is a cross section view of this orchestra.”

Stan Kenton introduced his orchestra in “This is an orchestra” as “This is a cross section view of this orchestra.”
Lalo Schifrin wrote “Gillespiana” for the Dizzy Gillespie Ensemble. It was orchestrated in a way that the horn section and tubas play the same role as the saxophone section. In listening to its recording, those players understood to mimic this unique situation.
These two concepts inspired me to compose this work. My intentions are to bring mutual understanding between legit and jazz performance to further enrich the music scene. The original version was titled “Cross-Section View” written in 2006 for the brass ensemble “Brass Concept”.

Nuclear Cross Section !!
Nuclear Cross section is the area around a nucleus facing a beam of incident particles within which the incident particles will interact with the nucleus, and outside which the particles will penetrate through the material without interacting with the nucleus.
It depends on variety of factors, such as the nature of the incident particles, the energy of the incident particles, etc.
If the nuclear cross section is known, we can obtain an expression to determine what fraction of the incident particles will actually lead to an interaction with the target nuclei, thus leading to a successful nuclear reaction.
As it turns out, the number of incident particles penetrating through a material medium decreases exponentially.
Using this we can also calculate the rate at which a nuclear reaction wi...

Chapter 1
Stress
1-36. The average normal stresses developed in section a-a of the turnbuckle, and the bolts shanks at B and C, are not allowed to exceed 15 ksi and 45 ksi, respectively. Determine the maximum axial force P that can be applied to the turnbuckle. Each bolt shank has a diameter of 0.5 in.
