Flagellar movement, or locomotion, occurs as either planar waves, oarlike beating, or three-dimensional waves. All three of these forms of flagellar locomotion consist of contraction waves that pass either from the base to the tip of the flagellum or in the reverse direction to produce forward or backward movement.

Just remember, bleeding or swollen gums are never normal! Your gums will only bleed if they are not healthy or have an infection. Now, the infection may be milid, or it may be severe, but even slightly infected gum tissue will be infested with at least some of these parasites or bacteria.
Let's go over the 5 most dangerous pathogens in the mouth:
First, we see Spinning Rods.
This is generally the first type of bacteria that forms in periodontal disease otherwise known as gum disease and they are fairly aggressive.
Second, we find Gliding Rods.
These are a more advanced form of the Spinning Rods. They look fairly similar but the gliding rods are a bit longer in length, they do not spin as much and they move around much more.
Third, we will notice Spirochetes.
These are most commonly found in high numbers with much more severe cases of periodontitis. These dental spirochetes are now being found in the brains of Alzheimer's patients in much higher numbers than those without Alzheimer's Disease.
If you'd like to learn more about the potential Alzheimers/Perio connection see the sources below.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti...
Fourth, we will find Amoeba.
Some of you may have heard of the Amoeba before, and this is certainly not a good pathogen to have in your mouth.
These Amoeba move very slowly, (The footage in this video is sped up 3X) and they use their pseudopods to ingulf the white blood cells that are in the mouth trying to fight the disease.
Fifth, we have the Trichomonads
These are the least common bacteria that we find in the mouth, however they are the most destructive. These parasites are extremely mobile and are usually only seen in the very extreme advanced cases of gum disease. These Trichomonads are the same bacteria that are found in the STD known as trichomoniasis. However they are not the same species of 'trich'. Therefore, the Trichomonads from the mouth cannot be directly passed into trichomoniasis.
Make sure you keep your mouth healthy because it can affect your entire body! These bacteria have been linked to so many other systemic diseases. Don't forget to floss.
