Hepatitis B Virus: Serology
Hepatitis B is a viral infection affecting the liver. The disease goes through different phases, which can be diagnosed by serology. Diagnostic testing comprises the three most important parameters: HBs antigen, anti-HBs antibody, and anti-HBc antibody. These three parameters can be used to identify active infection, previous infection, and status after vaccination. In addition, anti-HBc IgM antibodies can be used to confirm acute infection.

Modes of transmission for Hepatitis B virus - Dr. Ramakrishna Prasad
Hepatitis B is a virus which infects nearly 350 million people in the world. The way the hepatitis B virus spreads is very similar in many ways to the way HIV spreads. The four or five main modes of transmission are as follows. Firstly in many parts of the world this is the main mode of transmission of hepatitis B virus when mother is infected and when she becomes pregnant it is not detected that she has hepatitis B virus. Then the newborn of the mother is at risk of acquiring this infection. The other way hepatitis B virus spreads is by injection drug use, blood transfusion, unsafe injection and also unprotected sexual intercourse. These are the main ways in which hepatitis B virus is transmitted.
