Rise And Fall Of The Aztec Civilization
While the Greeks and Romans were in Europe, the Aztecs were in Mexico and were also one of the most fearsome ancient civilizations due to their advanced military prowess and strategizing. How did they reach such power, and what caused them to fall?
The Aztec Empire of 1519 was the most powerful Mesoamerican Kingdom of all time. This multi-ethnic, multi-lingual realm stretched for roughly 80,000 square miles through what's now known as central and southern Mexico, even reaching to the present-day Republic of Guatemala. It's thought that fifteen million people paid tribute to the Emperor Moctezuma II of Tenochtitlán, which was the capital city of the great empire.

For many years, the Aztecs have captured our imaginations. Stories from the original European invaders combined with unique, awe-inspiring ruins and legends that speak of palaces of gold create an image of Aztec society defined by grandeur, wealth, and splendor.
But who exactly were the Aztecs? Where did they come from? How did they rise to control such a wide expanse of land? And if they were so powerful, how was it possible for them to fall from power and dominance just three years after contact was first made with the Spaniards?
These are just some of the questions that our captivating history book aims to answer.
