Arthur Alexander (May 10, 1940 – June 9, 1993) was an Americancountry songwriter and soul singer. Jason Ankeny, music critic for Allmusic, said Alexander was a "country-soul pioneer" and that, though largely unknown, "his music is the stuff of genius, a poignant and deeply intimate body of work on par with the best of his contemporaries." Alexander wrote songs publicized by such stars as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Tina Turner and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Career
Alexander was born in Sheffield, Alabama. Working with Spar Music in Florence, Alabama, Alexander recorded his first single, "Sally Sue Brown", under the name of June Alexander (short for Junior), which was released in 1960 on Jud Phillips' Judd Records. (Phillips is the brother of music pioneer Sam Phillips).
Arthur Alexander (1909–1989) was an American independent film producer.
Alexander was born in Germany. He began his Hollywood career in 1934 and produced about 50 films through 1949, many westerns, all with low budgets and with no connection to the established Hollywood studios (other than the fact that his uncle was Carl Laemmle, long-time head of Universal Pictures).
With his brother Max, Alexander founded Beacon Productions, Colony Pictures, and Max Alexander Productions. He was active as producer at the short-lived Grand National Pictures from 1936 through 1939, and released through Producers Releasing Corporation afterward. Much of his work is in public domain today and accessible online.

The little-known original version of ''Burning Love'' by country soul singer Arthur Alexander. This version was released on Alexander's self-titled album in April 1972, 4 months prior to the ubiquitous Elvis version. That version (released exactly 19 years before I was born) would go on to reach #2 (stopped by Chuck Berry's ''My Ding-A-Ling'') on the Hot 100 (Presley's 40th & final Top 10 hit) & #36 on the country chart.
