Hyaline arteriolosclerosis, also arterial hyalinosis and arteriolar hyalinosis, refers to thickening of the walls of arterioles by the deposits that appear as homogeneous pink hyaline material in routine staining. It is a type of arteriolosclerosis, which refers to hardening of the arteriolar wall.
It is often seen in the context of kidney pathology. In hypertension only the afferent arteriole is affected, while in diabetes mellitus, both the afferent and efferent arteriole are affected.
Hyaline arteriolosclerosis is a major morphologic characteristic of benign nephrosclerosis, in which the arteriolar narrowing causes diffuse impairment of renalblood supply, with loss of nephrons. The narrowing of the lumen can decrease renal blood flow and hence glomerular filtration rate leading to increased renin secretion and a perpetuating cycle with increasing blood pressure and decreasing kidney function.
An arterial road or arterial thoroughfare is a high-capacity urban road. The primary function of an arterial road is to deliver traffic from collector roads to freeways or expressways, and between urban centres at the highest level of service possible. As such, many arteries are limited-access roads, or feature restrictions on private access.
Though the design of arterial roads varies from country to country, city to city, and even within cities, they share a number of common design characteristics. For example, in many cities, arteries are arranged in concentric circles (commonly referred to as ring roads) or in a grid. Many jurisdictions also classify arterial roads as either principal (major) or minor.
In traffic engineering hierarchy, an arterial road delivers traffic between collector roads and freeways. For new arterial roads, intersections are often reduced to increase traffic flow. In California, arterial roads are usually spaced every half mile, and have intersecting collector(s) and streets. Some arterial roads, characterized by a small fraction of intersections and driveways compared to most arterial roads, are also considered to be expressways in some countries and some states of the United States.

How are arteries are different than veins
Arteries and veins work together with capillaries in order to move blood around the body.
Arteries move blood towards the heart and veins move blood away from the heart.
Arteries are most often full of oxygen-rich blood and veins are oxygen-poor.

Femoral Artery Anatomy Animation - Origin, Course, Branches and relations | USMLE Review
The femoral artery is one of the major arteries of the lower limb, providing the vast majority of the blood supply to the thigh, leg, and foot.
Origin:
-----------
The femoral artery is a continuation of the external iliac artery, which changes its name to the femoral artery after it crosses beneath the inguinal ligament in the lower abdomen and enters the femoral triangle of the thigh.
Course:
------------
After its origin, it runs down the anterior thigh within the femoral sheath and femoral triangle. It is lateral to the femoral vein and both structures are enclosed by the femoral sheath.
In the lower part of the thigh, the femoral artery passes through an opening in the adductor magnus muscle called the adductor hiatus, at which point it becomes the popliteal artery and continues into the popliteal fossa behind the knee.
Branches:
----------------
The femoral artery gives off several branches during its course. These include:
Superficial Epigastric Artery: This artery ascends to the skin and fascia of the lower part of the abdomen.
Superficial Circumflex Iliac Artery: This artery runs laterally, crossing the inguinal ligament.
Superficial External Pudendal Artery: This artery runs medially towards the skin and fascia of the penis or clitoris.
Deep Femoral Artery (Profunda Femoris): This is the main branch of the femoral artery. It supplies the thigh muscles and gives off the medial and lateral femoral circumflex arteries, which supply the hip joint.
Descending Genicular Artery: This artery supplies the upper part of the synovial membrane of the knee joint.
Function:
---------------
The femoral artery is the primary blood supply to the lower limb, supplying oxygenated blood and nutrients to the tissues of the thigh, leg, and foot. Its pulse can be palpated in the femoral triangle, making it a crucial point for clinicians assessing the circulation of the lower limb. It's also a common site for arterial catheterization procedures.

Roadway Functional Class - Arterial, Collector, and Local
Functional classifications are used to group roadways that serve similar transportation needs. These needs are often seen as two conflicting objectives – access and mobility. The mobility function provides few opportunities for entry and exit which results in low travel friction from vehicle access. Arterials provide the highest levels of mobility and low levels of access. Interstate highways are the highest order of arterials. The accessibility function provides many opportunities for entry and exit which creates potentially higher friction from vehicle access. Local streets provide the highest levels of access. The transition between mobility and access is designated by collector roads. These roads provide the transition between local roads and arterials.

The transition between mobility and access is designated by collector roads. These roads provide the transition between local roads and arterials.
The federal functional classification system provides additional categories which further disaggregate roadways into specific types of arterials, collectors, and local roads.
Local roads represent approximately 70% of the miles of roads, but carry approximately 15% of travel volume. Conversely, interstate highways, the highest order of arterials, represent only 1 or 2% of the miles, but carry approximately 30% of travel volumes.
It is important to note that some roadways are easily classified. An interstate highway is clearly an arterial and a neighborhood street with residences every 100 feet is a local street. However, there are areas of uncertainty at the transitions between each class as some roads may not fit neatly into one class and the road’s function may even change over time as land use and travel patterns change.

Coronary artery anatomy and physiology nursing review. The coronary arteries supply the heart muscle (myocardium) with fresh, oxygenated blood.
This allows the heart muscle to continue pumping blood throughout the body.

There are two main coronary arteries: the left coronary artery, and the right coronary artery. These arteries then branch off into smaller arteries, which supply different portions of the heart structures with blood.
Some of these branches include the following:
-Sinoatrial node branch
-Atrial brach
-Right conus
-Right anterior ventricle branch
-Posterior descending artery
-Right marginal artery
-Circumflex artery
-Left marginal branches (obtuse)
-Left anterior descending artery
-Diagonal branches

How are arteries are different than veins
Arteries and veins work together with capillaries in order to move blood around the body.
Arteries move blood towards the heart and veins move blood away from the heart.
Arteries are most often full of oxygen-rich blood and veins are oxygen-poor.
More on Arteries and Veins
