Truth! is the seventh album led by saxophonist Houston Person which was recorded in 1970 and released on the Prestige label.
Reception
Allmusic awarded the album 4 stars stating "much of the music that Person recorded for Prestige was exciting and quite rewarding. Those who like their jazz with a heavy dose of R&B will find a lot to admire on this CD".
Truth Unveiled by Time is a marble sculpture by Italian artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Executed between 1646 and 1652, Bernini intended to show Truthallegorically as a naked young woman being unveiled by a figure of Time above her, but the figure of Time was never executed. Bernini still expressed a wish to add the figure as late as 1665.
Bernini's rationale for creating the work was, according to his son Domenico, as a sculptural retort to attacks from opponents criticising his failed project to build two towers onto the front of St. Peter's Basilica. Cracks had appeared in the facade due to the inability of the foundations to support the towers and Bernini's architectural expansion received the blame, although historians are unsure as to the validity of this legend.
Bernini began the preparatory work for Truth Unveiled by Time in 1645, during the critical period after the death of his main patron pope Urban VIII, and the figure of Truth was largely complete by 1652. Despite never completing the figure of Time, Bernini left the sculpture in his will in perpetuity to the first-born of the Bernini family; although in fact Bernini tried to sell the work to Cardinal Mazarin of France. It remained in the family (displayed on a tilted stucco block during the 19th century) until 1924, when it was purchased by the Italian government and transferred to its current home on a plinth in room VIII of the Galleria Borghese. Its plinth there was originally tilted but it is now on a flat plinth after a recent restoration, leaving Truth more upright as it was originally displayed.
Tristan Roake and Andre Fernandez, better known as Truth are a production duo from Christchurch, New Zealand. They first rose in late 2007 when Mala of Digital Mystikz signed their debut single The Fatman / Stolen Children for his Deep Medi Musik label. The single was described by Boomkat as "dark and immaculately executed" and was released in early 2009 as Medi13x on 12" vinyl format.
This release has been followed by two more releases on Deep Medi Musik and a number of singles on labels such as Tempa, SMOG, Black Box, Get Darker, Artikal, Argon, Wheel and Deal, Disfigured Dubz, Aquatic Lab, Boka, Optimus Gryme, Moonshine and Abyss Recordings. Collaborators have included Datsik, Alix Perez, Antiserum, Yayne, Kito, DJ Madd, Riskotheque, Babylon System, Noah D, Lynx, Kromestar, Silkie and Dutty Ranks.
Originally from New Zealand, now based in San Francisco, California Truth have toured extensively including numerous USA tours, four tours of the UK and Europe and a tour of Latin America. They can be found regularly playing in the United States, New Zealand, Australia and Europe.
The song was written by Ezekiel "Zeke" Lewis, Balewa Muhammad, Candice Nelson, and Patrick "J. Que" Smith of the popular songwriting/production team The Clutch. In addition, it shares a drum sample with the Three 6 Mafia song "Stay Fly," originally sampled from an earlier Willie Hutch song titled "Tell Me Why Our Love Turned Cold." The track has an intro reminiscent of Justin Timberlake's "My Love" and also shares similar vocals and lyrics to "Tell Me Why Our Love Turned Cold".
The music video (directed by Bernard Gourley) includes Steph Jones from the Disturbing Tha Peace family and model Nazanin Mandi as Valentino's love interest. However, Timbaland does not appear in the video, while his verse remains. "Anonymous" peaked at No. 49 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
Recorded after the departure of bass player Kevin Rutmanis, the songs on Anonymous are based on Native American compositions researched by guitarist Duane Denison. The album has received mildly positive reviews, being described as faithful to its source material. One single, "Sun Dance", was released to support the album.
Production
Anonymous was recorded after the departure of Tomahawk's bass player Kevin Rutmanis, leaving a lineup composed of Mike Patton, Duane Denison and John Stanier. Denison and Stanier recorded their musical parts for the album in Nashville, Tennessee, before sending them to Patton in San Francisco to add vocal parts and samples; the resulting album was a mix of live studio recordings and overdubbed sounds. Due to the absence of Rutmanis, both Denison and Patton recorded bass tracks for the album. Patton's former Mr. Bungle bandmate Trevor Dunn became the band's bass player in 2012.
The main character of Pyramids is Teppic, prince of the tiny kingdom of Djelibeybi. Djelibeybi is the Discworld counterpart to Ancient Egypt.
Young Teppic has been in training at the Assassins Guild in Ankh-Morpork for several years. The day after passing his final exam he mystically senses that his father has died and that he must return home. Being the first Djelibeybian king raised outside the kingdom leads to some interesting problems, based on the fact that Dios, the high priest, is a stickler for tradition, and does not, in fact, allow the pharaohs to rule the country.
After numerous adventures and misunderstandings, Teppic is forced to escape from the palace, along with a handmaiden named Ptraci. Meanwhile, the massive pyramid being built for Teppic's father warps space-time so much that it "rotates" Djelebeybi out of alignment with the space/time of the rest of the disc by 90 degrees. Teppic and Ptraci travel to Ephebe to consult with the philosophers there as to how to get back inside the Kingdom. Meanwhile, pandemonium takes hold in Djelibeybi, as the kingdom's multifarious gods descend upon the populace, and all of Djelibeybi's dead rulers come back to life.
