André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu (born 1 October 1949) is a Dutch violinist and conductor best known for creating the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra. Together they have turned classical and waltz music into a worldwide concert touring act, as successful as some of the biggest global pop and rock music acts. For his work, Rieu has been awarded such honours as the Order of the Netherlands Lion by the Netherlands, the Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by France, and the Honorary Medal by his native Province of Limburg.
Rieu began studying violin at the age of five. He created the Maastricht Salon Orchestra in 1978, and went on to create the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1988.
Early life
The name Rieu is of French Huguenot origin. Rieu's father, of the same name, was conductor of the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. Showing early promise, André began studying violin at the age of five. From a very young age, he developed a fascination with orchestra. He studied violin at the Conservatoire Royal in Liège and at the Conservatorium Maastricht, (1968–1973), studying under Jo Juda and Herman Krebbers. From 1974 to 1977, he attended the Music Academy in Brussels, studying with André Gertler, finally receiving his degree "Premier Prix" from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
The album was released worldwide on 31 October 2011. It presents waltzes from around the world, including a "Valse Triste" (sad waltz) from Finland, a miniature waltz "La petite Valse" from France, a popular waltz tune that began life in Germany.
The album is centered on a waltz composed by Welsh-born actor Anthony Hopkins. The waltz, called "And the Waltz Goes On" was composed by Hopkins in 1964. A fan of the Dutch violinist, Hopkins's wife sent his waltz to Rieu for consideration.
Inspired by New Zealand's stunning landscape and the ‘life must go on’ attitude of its people in the face of the recent natural disasters, André composed a dreamy waltz together with his first violinist Frank Steijns entitled "Dreaming of New Zealand". The album includes both an instrumental version and one with English and Māori lyrics.
GOES-L was launched aboard an International Launch ServicesAtlas IIA rocket, flying from Space Launch Complex 36A at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The launch occurred at 07:07 GMT on 3 May. The launch was originally scheduled for 15 March 1999, however it was delayed to allow the Eutelsat W3 satellite to be launched first. Following this, it was rescheduled for 15 May. On 30 April, the Centaur upper stage of a Titan IV(401)B failed during the launch of USA-143. Since a version of the Centaur was also used on the Atlas II, the launch of GOES-L was delayed a week to ensure that the same problem would not affect its launch. Less than five days after the Titan failure, a Delta III failed to launch Orion 3. The failure occurred during the second stage restart, and as the Delta III and Atlas II both used RL10 engines on their second stages, this resulted in a further delay.
GOES 4 was built by Hughes Space and Communications, and was based around the HS-371 satellite bus. At launch it had a mass of 660 kilograms (1,460lb), with an expected operational lifespan of around seven years. It was the first HS-371 based GOES satellite.
Launch and orbit
GOES-D was launched using a Delta 3914 carrier rocket flying from Launch Complex 17A at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The launch occurred at 22:27 GMT on 9 September 1980. The launch successfully placed GOES-D into a geosynchronous transfer orbit, from which it raised itself to geostationary orbit by means of an onboard Star-27 apogee motor. Its insertion into geostationary orbit occurred at 12:00 on 11 September.

Official Lyrics:
Ladies and gentlemen
This is Mambo No. 5!
One, two, three, four, five
Everybody in the car, so come on let's ride
To the liquor store around the corner
The boys say they want some gin and juice
But I really don't wanna
Beer bust, like I had last week
I must stay deep, 'cause talk is cheap
I like Angela, Pamela, Sandra and Rita
And as I continue you know they're getting sweeter
So what can I do? I really beg you, my Lord
To me flirting is just like a sport
Anything fly, it's all good let me dump it
Please set in the trumpet
A little bit of Monica in my life
A little bit of Erica by my side
A little bit of Rita is all I need...

Back at that high school cotillion Chances were one in a million She had that angora sweater How could I ever forget her? She had a body you'd kill for You hoped that she'd take the pill for She up and said, "I'm a dancer Don't tell me you are a Cancer" And some sez it's true It's all she can do Take her or leave her But let her get hold of you I made my move to the floor One lonely night left in store I can still prove I am sure She is what loving is for The girl is the pride of fandango The world takes my mind with a tango A star in the night lights Topanga Far from the lights of Tarzana We dance for the chance Of romance boy, ain't it the truth? You take two steps forward Take one step right back to your youth So long ago you were a Romeo Went back to my Alma Mater I asked to dance with her daughter She said if it's not a bother First dance is just for my father Love can make this old world tremble Life is someone you resemble We dance and the mood starts to tumble
