What is the Amazon Basin?
A river basin is a vital network all living things are connected to and depend upon. As the largest basin of any one river, the Amazon river basin plays a significant role in global carbon and water cycles, which Amazonian communities depend on for their infrastructure and livelihoods. However, the Amazon Basin is suffering significant disruptions from climate change and illegal activities.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the Amazon Regional Environment Program (AREP), works to preserve and strengthen this unique region. By working together to protect this vital ecosystem, USAID and partners can preserve the health and livelihoods of local communities and strengthen global resilience to climate change.

Who is under the Amazon River? The Mystery of the River.
Amazon.
Even schoolchildren know it as the largest river in the world.
But it's not just a river.
The Amazon Basin is almost the size of Australia, an entire continent.
In high water, the river flows over such distances that not a single bridge has yet been built across it.
Every 24 hours, the Amazon brings about 19 cubic kilometers of water into the ocean. This volume would be enough to cover the needs of New York for 12 years ahead.
This amazing river even has a mysterious gloomy counterpart. A gigantic underground current that didn't reveal itself in any way up till now.
The sheer scale of this place makes it seem like a whole separate world. The Amazon jungle is literally called the world's gene pool. Over a third of all biological species known to science lives here. And new ones are...

If you have trypophobia, leave this video immediately, because today we're going to talk about the kite frog, which is more like a frog than a toad. The pipa pipa is a species of frog of the family "pipidae", an exclusively aquatic animal, they live in calm waters, including lakes and rivers in tropical forests, in an area that covers almost all of South America, ranging from Trinidad and Tobago , there is a large part of the Amazon Basin, including the country that originated its name in English, Suriname.
And new ones are regularly discovered.
In prehistoric times, terrible monsters lived here, and scientists still find their remains.
Traces of ancient cultures are also found in this place; it's not clear where they came from and it's even more unclear where they went.

The Amazon Rainforest occupies most of the 7m km^2 of the Amazon Basin which spans from the Atlantic in the east to the tree line in the Andes to the west. With its flattened appearance, triangular head, and tiny eyes, the kite toad doesn't look like most other frogs. It camouflages itself very well in the environment, remaining immobile in the mud, which makes the animal almost invisible, so they are safe from predators. and still manage to capture food such as crustaceans, fish, and invertebrates in the water. To sense the presence of prey, these nocturnal creatures use sensory organs at their fingertips. They then suck the victim in with their mouth, which lacks teeth and tongue, or use their paws to grab food. It has one of the strangest reproduction methods in the animal kingdom, the young emerge from a set of tiny holes in their mother's back. Although this birth method may seem strange, it is actually safer for newborns. Stuck on their backs they are less vulnerable to predators, making these frogs a great example of parental care. E When they are born, the little kites are already fully formed and are practically independent of their parents.

The sheer scale of this place makes it seem like a whole separate world. The Amazon jungle is literally called the world's gene pool. Over a third of all biological species known to science lives here. And new ones are regularly discovered.
In prehistoric times, terrible monsters lived here, and scientists still find their remains.
Traces of ancient cultures are also found in this place; it's not clear where they came from and it's even more unclear where they went.
