Lyrically, the album contains social commentary so harsh that CCM described it as "perhaps the most scathing ever put out by a Christian label."
¡Alarma! was the first of a four part series of albums by DA entitled The ¡Alarma! Chronicles, which also included the albums Doppelgänger, Vox Humana, and Fearful Symmetry. This album, along with the other three albums from the Alarma! Chronicles, was rereleased as part of the Alarma! Chronicles book set in 2000. The book set included three CDs and a hardcover book of lyrics, photos, liner notes, essays, interviews and other information that amounted to over 200 printed pages.
¡Alarma! (Spanish for "Alarm!") was an Mexican news-magazine that specialized in very graphic pictures of traffic accidents, murder victims, etc., as well as pictures of scantily clad women.
Alarma was canceled because the editor died.
History and profile
¡Alarma! was first published on April 17, 1963, and its success has spawned several competitors (including Alarde!, Enlace! and Poliéster). It was censored briefly between 1986 and 1991, during which time it was not published, before returning as El nuevo Alarma! The magazine states it had a circulation of 15million copies. The magazine has been discontinued since 2014.
Sosa lies on both sides of the like-named Sosabach at an elevation of between 550 and 817m above sea level. Also in the community is the Rote Grube (“Red Mine”).
History
Sosa began as a forest village (Waldhufendorf). In 1453 it was first mentioned as Sossaw, although its beginnings are believed to have been in the 13th century. The people originally worked the land; however, from the 18th century onwards, mining gained in importance. In the second half of the 19th century, mining was diminishing in importance, and many migrated to the Zwickaucoalfields. There was a short revival between 1947 and 1956 when the Soviet-German Wismut Corporation (Sowjetisch-Deutsche Aktiengesellschaft Wismut, or SDAG Wismut) mined uranium here, bringing about a new upswing.
S.O.S.A. is an Compilation album made to promote AZ's then-upcoming album 9 Lives. It features 10 tracks, and has songs that are not found on AZ's other albums along with songs that ended up making it on the 9 Lives album. It was distributed in the streets, as AZ was a free agent at the time and was in the process of finding a new label after Noo Trybe Records let him go.
