Les Misérables: A Comparison of Film Adaptations
In this video essay, I compare some of the major English and French film adaptations of Victor Hugo's novel "Les Miserables" (1862). While my comparison is in no way comprehensive, it hopefully provides a few film historical observations of interest, not least of all when it comes to the overarching question: Why do classics keep getting adapted?

Family's lockdown adaptation of Les Misérables song goes viral
A family from Kent who shared a video of their living room performance of a lockdown-themed adaptation of a Les Misérables song have become a sensation online. Les Miserables: A Discussion of Why The Miniseries is Better Than Any Movie
Les Miserables is always a sad story, but in the Masterpiece Theater version featuring Dominic West, Lily Collins, David Oyewolo, and Olivia Coleman you get to see glimmers of cheer. Don't get me wrong, it's depressing as all get out, but you understand who the characters are making the series worth a watch.

Avec : Lino Ventura, Michel Bouquet, Evelyne Bouix, Valentine Bordelet, Jean Carmet, Christiane Jean, Louis Seigner, Françoise Seigner.
