On September 29, 2007, Pulpí tossed the world's largest salad, with 6,700 kilograms (14,740 pounds) of lettuce, tomato, onion, pepper and olives, supervised by 20 cooks over 3 hours. A Guinness World Recordsjudge was present to confirm the new record. The salad was prepared in a container 18m (59ft) long and 4.8m (15.7ft) wide.
Pulpí Geode

Pulp were an English rock band formed in Sheffield in 1978. Their best-known line-up from their heyday (1994–1996) consisted of Jarvis Cocker (vocals, guitar), Candida Doyle (keyboards), Russell Senior (guitar, violin), Mark Webber (guitar, keyboards), Steve Mackey (bass) and Nick Banks (drums). Senior quit in 1996 and returned for tours in 2011, while Leo Abrahams had been a touring member of the band since they reunited in 2011, contributing electric and acoustic guitar.
Throughout the 1980s, the band struggled to find success, but gained prominence in the UK in the mid-1990s with the release of the albums His 'n' Hers in 1994 and particularly Different Class in 1995, which reached the number one spot in the UK Albums Chart. Different Class spawned four top ten singles, including "Common People" and "Sorted for E's & Wizz", both of which reached number two in the UK Singles Chart. Pulp's musical style during this period consisted of disco influenced pop-rock coupled with "kitchen sink drama"-style lyrics. Jarvis Cocker and the band became reluctant figures in the Britpop movement, and were nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 1994 for His 'n' Hers; they won the prize in 1996 for Different Class and were nominated again in 1998 for This Is Hardcore. They headlined the Pyramid Stage of the Glastonbury Festival twice.
St. Jude is the debut album by British indie rock band The Courteeners, which was released on 7 April 2008. There is also a special edition album which includes a second disc of acoustic versions of songs which feature on the actual album. Though the album was received to average reviews from critics, the album has become somewhat a cult success though many fans are more favorable to the versions of songs seen on Here Come the Young Men EP and various other demos. In support of the album the band embarked on a European tour.
The album reached number 4 in the UK Album chart and passed its 100,000th sale the same week follow-up Falcon was released. The 990 sales the album collected during that period, brought the total up to 100,757.
In December 2008 St. Jude won the inaugural Guardian's First British Album Award beating albums by Glasvegas, Duffy, Adele, and Noah & The Whale. The award was voted for by members of the public and The Guardian journalists. St. Jude clinched a mammoth 53% of the public vote.
Afternoons is an American indie rock band, based out of Los Angeles, California, United States. Started by Irving band members Steven Scott and Brian Canning as an afternoon recording project, Afternoons was informally created in 2006. Grammy Award winner Tom Biller joined as both recording engineer and record producer, also performing live with the group playing guitar, bass, keyboards and drums. Classically trained opera singer Claire McKeown from the band Dirt Bird, sung on the recordings and along with Biller, Scott, Canning and former Irving drummer Brent Turner, has performed live with the band since their first show. As the band developed and the focus of Irving members shifted to Afternoons, keyboardist Aaron Burrows of both Irving and Sea Wolf joined along with multi-instrumentalist Sam Johnson. Johnson had joined Irving on their European tour in 2007 after the departure of Sea Wolf founder Alex Church.
Afternoons gained social relevance when in early 2008 contemporary artist, graphic designer and illustrator, Shepard Fairey, took interest in the band, creating a poster campaign featuring the title of the band's first single "Say Yes." The posters appeared around Los Angeles shortly after Fairey's "Obama Progress" Campaign. Fairey also gave an early copy of the band's unofficial demo to radio DJSteve Jones of Los Angeles based radio station Indie 103.1. Jones, the founding guitar player of the Sex Pistols started playing "Say Yes" on his afternoon radio program, "Jonesy's Jukebox".

Despite its influence, the timespan of Britpop was so very brief. From the release of “The Drowners” by Suede and “Popscene” by Blur, through Blur vs Oasis to its death knell with the release of OK Computer, merely 4 years and change. But the band that best represented that fleeting yet enduring cultural moment, the class divides, the classic pop literacy and the misfits-have-overrun-the-country attitude is Pulp. Formed in 1978, but finally with a chance at chart success in the Britpop era, the band, fronted by the awkwardly charismatic Jarvis Cocker, produced some of the most cuttingly insightful tracks of the 90s with “Do You Remember the First Time?”, “Mis-shapes” & “This...

2023 was an amazing year for Heavy Metal. There was a constant stream of new music, artwork and tours, and it doesn't seem like it's going to slow down any time soon!
It was cool to see so much fantastic album artwork this year, from new comers to shifting artistic styles from the old guard, it was next to impossible to narrow it down to the best of the best since art is subjective, but here is our Top 25 Favourite album covers from 2023!
Thanks for watching and we'll see you in 2024!

Formed in 1978, but finally with a chance at chart success in the Britpop era, the band, fronted by the awkwardly charismatic Jarvis Cocker, produced some of the most cuttingly insightful tracks of the 90s with “Do You Remember the First Time?”, “Mis-shapes” & “This Is Hardcore” But "Common People", their 1995 tale of class, sex and supermarkets, would define Britpop forever more. This is New British Canon and this is the story of “Common People.”

I fell asleep on your sofa and had a dream about a small child in dungarees Who caught his hands in the doors of the Paris metro. Then my face cracked open and you were there You were there dressed in green, saying something obscene. But that's why I came here in the first place, Oh well that and the tea. Can I stay here lying under the table together with you now? Can I hold you? Forever in acrylic afternoons I want to hold you tight Whilst children play outside and wait for their mothers to finish with lovers And call them inside for their tea. Cushions and TV and the table set for tea. One for you, one for me. Come and lie down on the settee in that green jumper You can have anything you want and the clock is saying it's half past four But you know I want to stay a little more. Can I stay here lying under the table...etc. On a pink quilted eiderdown, I want to pull your knickers down. Net curtains blow slightly in the breeze. Lemonade light filtering thru the trees. It's so soft and it's warm. Just another cup of tea please (one lump thanks). Can I stay here lying under the table...etc. Oh Kevin, Shane, Julie, Diane, Wayne, Frank, Heather, Rachel, Chelsea, Leanne, come home.
AcrylicAfternoons, a fansite of the band named after their 1994 song of the same name, has posted a thread of the frontman on Twitter in outfits which match the colours of rail tickets to various places around the UK.
