An acid (from the Latinacidus/acēre meaning sour) is a chemical substance whose aqueous solutions are characterized by a sour taste, the ability to turn blue litmus red, and the ability to react with bases and certain metals (like calcium) to form salts. An aqueous solution of an acid has a pH of less than 7 and is colloquially also referred to as 'acid' (as in 'dissolved in acid'), while the strict definition refers only to the solute. An acid usually contains a hydrogen atom bonded to a chemical structure that is still energetically favorable after loss of H+ (a positive hydrogen ion or proton). A lower pH means a higher acidity, and thus a higher concentration of positive hydrogen ions in the solution. Chemicals or substances having the property of an acid are said to be acidic.
There are three common definitions for acids: the Arrhenius definition, the Brønsted-Lowry definition, and the Lewis definition. The Arrhenius definition defines acids as substances which increase the concentration of hydrogen ions (H+), or more accurately, hydronium ions (H3O+), when dissolved in water. The Brønsted-Lowry definition is an expansion to include solvents other than water: an acid is a substance which can act as a proton donor. By this definition, any compound which can be deprotonated can be considered an acid. Examples include alcohols and amines which contain O-H or N-H fragments. A Lewis acid is a substance that can accept a pair of electrons to form a covalent bond. Examples of Lewis acids include all metal cations, and electron-deficient molecules such as boron trifluoride and aluminium trichloride.
The use of wine tasting descriptors allows the taster to qualitatively relate the aromas and flavors that the taster experiences and can be used in assessing the overall quality of wine. Wine writers, like Karen MacNeil author of The Wine Bible, differentiate wine tasters from casual enthusiasts; tasters attempt to give an objective description of the wine's taste (often taking a systematic approach to tasting), casual enthusiasts appreciate wine but pause their examination sooner than tasters. The primary source of a person's ability to taste wine is derived from his or her olfactory senses. A taster's own personal experiences play a significant role in conceptualizing what he or she is tasting and attaching a description to that perception. The individual nature of tasting means that descriptors may be perceived differently among various tasters.
The following is an incomplete list of wine tasting descriptors and a common meaning of the terms. These terms and usage are from Karen MacNeil's 2001 edition of The Wine Bible unless otherwise noted.
ACIDIC is "the hardest-working young indie rock band in Southern California - or maybe, by now, in the entire US-of-A!" The band consists of lead vocalist /guitarist Michael Gossard, drummer Matt Whitaker, guitarist/vocalist Josh Bennett, and bassist/vocalist Max Myrick.
History
The early roots of ACIDIC arose out of a boy's love for music, guitar, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, Green Day and more. Michael Gossard's rock music career began when he first picked up a guitar as age three. Gossard originally dreamed of having a rock band while still in elementary school. His first attempt involved his best friend, Kyle Lynch, and Kyle's younger brother Christopher, in a three-piece band called Walking to Purgatory. Gossard taught Kyle to play drums and Christopher to play bass, and then taught them the songs he'd written. They performed at a small handful of neighborhood fundraising events during the summer between elementary and high school before the Lynch brothers refocused exclusively on school.

Taking Luciana’s uniquely recognisable vocal to propel the main body of the track, harder-leaning big-room is then overtaken to have the listener ride the wave of unflinchingly bold and fast techno. Laden with a nod to the classic acid sound that squelches and adds tweaks of dynamic melody and fluctuations of synth speed, to really get the party going, it’s an amalgamation of classic production techniques revamped for a modern audience, weaving through the ages with a booming stance. As Luciana’s vocal chants dominate to list off the spelling of ‘ACID’ - take “I, as in I don’t care!” as a standout declaration – Hardwell & Maddix’s grandiose and white-knuckle ride across the production takes us to all-new heights, showcasing that they can push things into the unknown whilst still remaining as at the top of their game as ever.
