Powell is the only player to win the Jack Turnbull Award as the top attackman in Division I lacrosse four consecutive times. Powell was also a four-time finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy, the lacrosse equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, and is one of two players to win the award twice. He led Syracuse to two national championships and holds the school record for most career points.
High school career
Powell attended Carthage Senior High School in Carthage, New York, where he was a high school All-American. He set the New York State high school records for most points in a season with 194 points in 2000, most points in a game with 15 points in 2000, and most assists in a season with 120 assists in 1999 and 115 in 2000.
At the 1991 World Championships in Athletics (Tokyo), he broke Bob Beamon's almost 23-year-old long jump world record by 5 cm (2 inches), leaping 8.95 m (29 ft 4¼ in). The world record still stands, making Powell the fourth person since 1900 to hold the record for over 20 years. His feat earned him the James E. Sullivan Award and BBC Sports Personality of the Year Overseas Personality Award in 1991

Michael Powell likely disposed of corpse - 2019 Susan Powell documentary
In this segment of the newest 2019 documentary on the disappearance of Susan Cox Powell, which aired during Part 1, the 7th segment, there is some pretty compelling evidence that Susan Powell’s corpse was very likely in Michael’s car… just watch… so he probably either disposed of the body or helped his brother Josh dispose of the body… which is probably the reason he chose to end his life one year after his brother Josh’s murder-suicide. In the second to last segment of the documentary, posted here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiGBNJRvFIc&feature=youtu.be, the undercover agent who had zeroed in on Michael’s car, which Michael had crushed all the way out in Oregon (halfway between the homes of Josh and Steven) then paid for a rental car to get himself home, said that “Michael knew we we...
