The major scale or Ionian scale is one of the most commonly used musical scales, especially in Western music. It is one of the diatonic scales. Like many musical scales it is made up of seven notes: the eighth duplicates the first at double its frequency so that it is called a higher octave of the same note (from Latin "octavus", the eighth).
The simplest major scale to write is C major, the only major scale not to require sharps or flats:
Since A-flat major was not often chosen as the main key for orchestral works of the 18th century, passages or movements in the key often retained the timpani settings of the preceding movement. For example, Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor has the timpani set to C and G for the first movement. With hand tuned timpani, there is no time to retune the timpani to A-flat and E-flat for the slow second movement in A-flat; accordingly, the timpani in this movement are reserved for the passages in C major. In Bruckner's Symphony No. 1 in C minor, however, the timpani are retuned between the first movement in C minor and the following in A-flat major.
Just a major scale. That's it. No lesson. No fluff. Major scale. Using solfege. Because solfege rocks.

The Five Positions of the Major Scale for Guitar
Learn how to effortlessly memorize and play the five positions of the major scale for guitar. Knowing the major scale in five different positions across the fretboard will enable you to see every interval location across the fretboard, which in turn will give you the ability to play different scales, modes, arpeggios, and chords anywhere you lay your hand on the guitar by simply adjusting certain intervals within the major scale (This also perfectly lines up with the CAGED system for guitar) and for this reason, this lesson also shows the 5 CAGED major scale positions and each Major chord in the CAGED system for guitar! This makes learning the 5 positions of the major scale across the fretboard a very powerful tool for guitarists.

LESSON DESCRIPTION:
How well do you know the five major scale guitar patterns?
Do you know them equally well or do you jump to some scale patterns more than others?
Most importantly, can you clearly see where all the roots are within each of the guitar patterns? Knowing where the roots are within major scale forms is everything.
Seeing the roots clearly allows us to actually treat a major scale pattern as minor (or another mode), and helps us to track where we are in a key.
Needless to say this is invaluable for improvising, composing, and learning new music faster.
I have a super simple and effective way to practice all five major scale patterns on the guitar to get them down once and for all by targeting the roots in a specific way.
And that’s what this lesson is all about.

Help me help you by taking my Guitar Goals Evaluation (super short, two-question survey that takes less than one minute): http://bit.ly/3avyPt1

This is the first lesson in a new series for how to map out and finally learn all five guitar scale patterns of various scale types. I know that some people have been playing guitar for a long time and still don’t have these five major scale guitar patterns totally down, or they know them but don’t see where the roots are clearly enough to take advantage of using them to their full potential. Stay tuned for more scale types coming up and use the link at the top of the description to go to playlist that includes all of these scale shape lessons.

Episode 17. What's up, Hunter?
The major scale or Ionian scale is one of the most commonly used musical scales, especially in Western music. It is one of the diatonic scales. Like many musical scales it is made up of seven notes: the eighth duplicates the first at double its frequency so that it is called a higher octave of the same note (from Latin "octavus", the eighth).
The simplest major scale to write is C major, the only major scale not to require sharps or flats:

Trust In me can't trust I know, I don't believe it All my life so scarred what for, you can't conceive it Everything you fear I'll be, you couldn't live it I whisper in your ear so loud, why can't you hear it I'm OK All my faith is gone you think I couldn't find it Pieces falling down shattered, nothing behind it In my mind alone, Lost here I'm separated Crawl deeper in my hole safe here from what I hated All the demons in my head won't leave me I know I can hear them All the sacrifices made for nothing Don't show can't believe it Want to show that I'm good for something I can't you won't let me All your artificial words won't heal me Because you can't accept me And I hate myself And I hate my face And I hate my world And I hate my ways And I And I And I I'M NOT OK!
