Autovía A-56
The Autovía A-56 is a proposed highway in north western Spain. It is planned as a new, safe, 4-lane alternative to the N-540 between Ourense and Lugo. It will connect the Autovía A-55 with the Autovía A-6. Construction has begun as of October 2008 in a 10 km. stretch located on the border between the provinces of Lugo and Ourense.

Spain (Auden)
Spain is a poem by W. H. Auden written after his visit to the Spanish Civil War and regarded by some as one of the most important literary works in English to emerge from that war. It was written and published in 1937.
Auden published two versions of the poem, first as a pamphlet Spain (1937), then, in revised form and titled "Spain 1937", in his book Another Time (1940). He later rejected the poem from his collected editions, regarding it as a "dishonest" poem that expressed political views that he never believed but which he thought would be rhetorically effective.
The poem describes the history that led up to the Spanish Civil War, then the arrival of the International Brigades at the war itself, then foresees a possible future that may result from the war.
The poem was widely discussed, notably by George Orwell in "Inside the Whale" (1940) and in E. P. Thompson's reply to Orwell, "Outside the Whale" (Out of Apathy, 1960).

Australian rules football in Europe
Australian rules football is played in Europe at an amateur level in a large number of countries. The oldest and largest leagues are those in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Denmark, each nation having a number of clubs, organised junior programs and women's football. The British AFL has now dramatically expanded into the Welsh, Scottish and English leagues. The Danish AFL has been responsible for the expansion of Australian Football into Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Norway. The governing body for Australian Football in Europe was founded in Frankfurt in January 2010; the body was initially called the European Australian Football Association, but changed its name to AFL Europe at a general assembly meeting in Milan in October of the same year. It currently has 19 member nations. AFL Europe, with backing of the AFL in Australia has overseen a large improvement in the organisation of Australian football in Europe.
The sport has grown from a few clubs and leagues started mainly by expatriate Australians and returning nationals in the late 1980s and early 1990s, to now having established leagues in over 15 nations, with the majority of players being non-Australian.

Auden travelled to Spain in January 1937 to support the Republican efforts in the civil war, and composed the poem shortly after his return a few months later to raise money for Medical Aid for Spain. It became a rallying cry in the fight against fascism, but was also heavily criticised, not least by George Orwell, for the phrase (in its first version) of ‘necessary murder’. In "From the Very First Coming Down," Auden's relationship to the reader is considered, as well as the role of economy, truth, and morality in his poetics. Obsessing our private lives;
The unmentionable odour of death
Offends the September night.
Accurate scholarship can
Unearth the whole offence
From Luther until now
That has driven a culture mad,
Find what occurred at Linz,
What huge imago made
A psychopathic god:
I and the public know
What all schoolchildren learn,
Those to whom evil is done
Do evil in return.
Exiled Thucydides knew
All that a speech can say
About Democracy,
And what dictators do,
The elderly rubbish they talk
To an apathetic grave;
Analysed all in his book,
The enlightenment driven away,
The habit-forming pain,
Mismanagement and grief:
We must suffer them all again.
Into this neutral air
Where blind skyscrapers use
Their full height to proclaim
The strength of Collective Man,

Competitive excuse:

The term 'Poets of the 1930s' refers to a group of British and Irish poets in the Thirties such as W.H. Auden, Stephen Spender, Louis MacNeice, Cecil Day Lewis, Christopher Isherwood, Edward Upward and Rex Warner.
They were also known as the Auden Group or the Auden Generation after the most prominent poet of the Thirties, W. H. Auden. Poet critic Roy Campbell, in his 1946 book Talking Bronco coined the name "MacSpaunday" to designate a group comprising of the four poets of the Thirties. These four poets are--
Louis MacNeice ("Mac")
Stephen Spender ("sp")
W.H. Auden ("au-n")
Cecil Day Lewis ("day")
Later on, the term "MacSpaunday" was occasionally used as a synonym for the "Thirties poets".
These poets of the Thirties such as W.H. Auden, Stephen Spender, Christopher Isherwood, Louis MacNeice and Cecil Day Lewis were sometimes also referred to as the Oxford Poets as they were all Oxford graduates and were known to each other.
There is another name by which these poets of the 1930s were known and that is-- "Pylon Poets".
"The Pylons" is a poem by Stephen Spender and it perfectly reflects the political and social concerns of its members. The Pylon Poets were-- W.H. Auden, Cecil Day Lewis, Louis MacNeice, Stephen Spender and Christopher Isherwood. So the poets of the 1930s are known by different names, such as--
1. The Auden Group/The Auden Generation
2. MacSpaunday
3. The Oxford Poets and
4. The Pylon Poets.
Please don't get confused between the Oxford Poets and the Oxford Movement. The Oxford Movement was a 19th century religious movement that centered at the University of Oxford and it sought to bring spiritual renewal within the Church of England. On the other hand, the Oxford Poets were the poets of the 1930s such as W.H. Auden, Stephen Spender, Christopher Isherwood, Louis MacNeice and Cecil Day Lewis.

The Oxford Movement was a 19th century religious movement that centered at the University of Oxford and it sought to bring spiritual renewal within the Church of England. On the other hand, the Oxford Poets were the poets of the 1930s such as W.H. Auden, Stephen Spender, Christopher Isherwood, Louis MacNeice and Cecil Day Lewis.
Along with an introduction to the Poets of the Thirties, you will find insights on the social, political and economic background of the 1930s, characteristics of the Poets of the Thirties and a detailed discussion of some of the representative poems of the Thirties. These will definitely help you if you are a student of English literature and preparing for your Undergraduation/Post Graduation/UGC NET- JRF/ SET. In their second episode, Mark and Seamus look at W.H. Auden's, ‘Spain’. Auden travelled to Spain in January 1937 to support the Republican efforts in the civil war, and composed the poem shortly after his return a few months later to raise money for Medical Aid for Spain. It became a rallying cry in the fight against fascism, but was also heavily criticised, not least by George Orwell, for the phrase (in its first version) of ‘necessary murder’. Mark and Seamus discuss the poem’s Marxist presentation of history, its distinctly non-Marxist language, and why Auden ultimately condemned it as ‘a lie’.
Mark Ford is Professor of English at University College, London, and Seamus Perry is Professor of English Literature at Balliol College, Oxford.

In "From the Very First Coming Down," Auden's relationship to the reader is considered, as well as the role of economy, truth, and morality in his poetics. Waves of anger and fear
Circulate over the bright

Accurate scholarship can
Unearth the whole offence

In this video, we will talk about the Poets of the 1930s.
The term 'Poets of the 1930s' refers to a group of British and Irish poets in the Thirties such as W.H. Auden, Stephen Spender, Louis MacNeice, Cecil Day Lewis, Christopher Isherwood, Edward Upward and Rex Warner.
They were also known as the Auden Group or the Auden Generation after the most prominent poet of the Thirties, W. H. Auden. Poet critic Roy Campbell, in his 1946 book Talking Bronco coined the name "MacSpaunday" to designate a group comprising of the four poets of the Thirties. These four poets are--
Louis MacNeice ("Mac")
Stephen Spender ("sp")
W.H. Auden ("au-n")
Cecil Day Lewis ("day")
Later on, the term "MacSpaunday" was occasionally used as a synonym for the "Thirties poets".
These poets of the Thirties such as W.H. Auden, Stephen Spender, Christopher Isherwood, Louis MacNeice and Cecil Day Lewis were sometimes also referred to as the Oxford Poets as they were all Oxford graduates and were known to each other.
There is another name by which these poets of the 1930s were known and that is-- "Pylon Poets".
"The Pylons" is a poem by Stephen Spender and it perfectly reflects the political and social concerns of its members. The Pylon Poets were-- W.H. Auden, Cecil Day Lewis, Louis MacNeice, Stephen Spender and Christopher Isherwood. So the poets of the 1930s are known by different names, such as--
1. The Auden Group/The Auden Generation
2. MacSpaunday
3. The Oxford Poets and
4. The Pylon Poets.
Please don't get confused between the Oxford Poets and the Oxford Movement. The Oxford Movement was a 19th century religious movement that centered at the University of Oxford and it sought to bring spiritual renewal within the Church of England. On the other hand, the Oxford Poets were the poets of the 1930s such as W.H. Auden, Stephen Spender, Christopher Isherwood, Louis MacNeice and Cecil Day Lewis.

The Autovía A-56 is a proposed highway in north western Spain. It is planned as a new, safe, 4-lane alternative to the N-540 between Ourense and Lugo. The weekend of March 21 2015 saw AFL Europe and DAFA play host to the Inaugural Champions League tournament which brought ten teams to Amsterdam to face off for the title in Australian Rules Football.
