The WHALES of DESERT STORM
An aging pair of VQ-2 EA-3Bs found themselves helping coordinate and guide coalition strike packages through dangerous Missile Engagement Zones. EA-3B 004 and 006 provided an outstanding service of information to the US Navy and Air Force strike packages heading in to Iraq, on long interdiction sorties. The electronic warfare equippment, manned by 4 specialists in the former bomb bay, along with the 3 flight crew helped the EA-3s carry out effective scouting of Iraqi radar sites, though flying on the borders of Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

A-3 Skywarrior Last Flight and Fly-by - NAS Fort Worth, Texas
A3Treasurer's shared video file.
On 6-30-2011 after several days of consulting with Raytheon, NAVAIR, NMNA, and the A-3 Association.
It was agreed to fly the jet to Pensacola for display. The A-3 Association deposited $15K with Raytheon and on the 29th, Ron Woltman and crew departed Van Nuys at 1945 CST arriving NAS Fort Worth at ~2215.
We (A-3 Assoc) met Ron and crew at the aircraft and transported them to the hotel. Early the next morning we readied the jet for it's last flight and Ron and his crew took off for the last time at 9:10 CST Fort Worth, TX for Pensacola, FL.
We'll miss the sound of those J-57's and we will miss the A-3 Skywarrior. Remember all that we have 20 of these in museums so please donate to the A-3 Association so we can keep them all as good looking as how ...

This is the first video produced by author and historian Bruce Gamble for his new channel, Skywarrior Media. Originally filmed by Bruce in the mid-1980s (using a bulky VHS camcorder), the video documents a reconnaissance mission over the Gulf of Oman by an EA-3B Skywarrior crew from the USS Carl Vinson. Viewers get a "dashcam" look at flight operations, a catapult launch, aerial refueling, and an arrested landing. Several Cold War era planes appear, including F-14s, A-7s, A-6s, and E-2Cs.

Visit http://www.brucegamble.com for more information on Bruce's award-winning books and his video channel, Skywarrior Media.
Bruce recently completed Black Sheep Chronicles, a 7-part series about Marine Fighting Squadron 214 (VMF-214) in World War 2, aka the Black Sheep Squadron. Its famous leader, Gregory "Pappy" Boyington, earned a Medal of Honor and is the highest scoring fighter ace in Marine Corps history.
The series combines rare archival film along with high-quality photographs and documentation from Bruce's decades of research.
The videos in the Black Sheep Chronicles series are:
Part 1: Wildcat Days https://youtu.be/uXnYRig3cOM
Part 2: Swashbucklers https://youtu.be/89GWCAhJazg
Part 3: Boyington’s Bastards https://youtu.be/CKr6CR-xPbU
Part 4: Islands in the Sun https://youtu.be/uXnYRig3cOM
Part 5: Gunfights Over Rabaul https://youtu.be/4rGmA2JEavQ
Part 6: Inferno https://youtu.be/IAUCmAZrkuA
Part 7: The Real Pappy Boyington https://youtu.be/et_V5pvJkoE
The series includes concise narration to tell the history of VMF-214 in the Pacific War from 1942 – 1945. The squadron fought in the Solomon Islands at such fabled locations as Guadalcanal and Bougainville, with many missions over Japanese strongholds such as Rabaul, New Britain.
Special emphasis is placed on Gregory “Pappy” Boyington, leader of the Black Sheep Squadron through its most intense combat tours. He flew P-40 Warhawks with the famed Flying Tigers before leading the Black Sheep, earned a Medal of Honor, and remains the highest scoring fighter ace in Marine Corps history with 28 official victories.
Strong emphasis is also placed on the stories of the other fighter pilots who served in VMF-214.
As the creator of Skywarrior Media, Bruce Gamble has gathered the most accurate and authentic archival footage available—some in color. Many rare clips feature famous World War II aircraft such as F4U Corsairs, F4F Wildcats, F6F Hellcats, P-40 Warhawks, A6M Zeros, SBD Dauntlesses, TBF Avengers, B-17 Fortresses, B-24 Liberators, B-25 Mitchells, G4M Bettys. Many scenes include actual gun camera footage of intense aerial combat. Other scenes feature famous ships such as the aircraft carrier USS Franklin, and there are several depictions of aircraft accidents and crashes.
