Army list building WITH POINTS!
With most new Napoleonic gamers coming in via GW or other games, I thought I'd build a list using the points values given in the Black Powder supplements. First I shine a light on the stigma that points games have in historicals, particularly Napolenics, before pointing out why they're not only the domaine of the hard core tournament gamer.
If Orders of Battle are more your thing, check this mini series out!
I'm expecting this to be a controversial video, so please leave your comments below!.

The Astra Militarum, also known as the Imperial Guard in colloquial Low Gothic, is the largest coherent fighting force in the galaxy and serves as the Imperium of Man's primary military force and first line of defence from the myriad threats which endanger the existence of the Human race in the 41st Millennium.
It is comprised of countless billions of men and women -- hundreds of thousands of different regiments, supported by a vast array of light and heavy armoured vehicles that provide the Guard's primary offensive punch. The Astra Militarum ar...

In English, use of the term infantry began about the 1570s, describing soldiers who march and fight on foot. The word derives from Middle French infanterie, from older Italian (also Spanish) infanteria (foot soldiers too inexperienced for cavalry), from Latin īnfāns (without speech, newborn, foolish), from which English also gets infant.[1] The individual-soldier term infantryman was not coined until 1837.[2] In modern usage, foot soldiers of any era are now considered infantry and infantrymen.[3]
From the mid-18th century until 1881, the British Army named its infantry as numbered regiments "of Foot" to distinguish them from cavalry and dragoon regiments (see List of Regiments of Foot).[citation need...

France's Swiss Regiments - Part 1

Also, tomorrow at 10:30AM BST I'll be going live for a bank holiday Monday paintalong, and perhaps kitbashing some Portuguese dragoons, maybe some Middle Guard, I don't know, I've not decided yet!

The Astra Militarum are usually the first Imperial force to respond to a threat if a world's Planetary Defence Force (PDF) fails to suppress it.

From the mid-18th century until 1881, the British Army named its infantry as numbered regiments "of Foot" to distinguish them from cavalry and dragoon regiments (see List of Regiments of Foot).[citation needed]
Infantry equipped with special weapons were often named after that weapon, such as grenadiers for their grenades, or fusiliers for their fusils. These names can persist long after the weapon speciality; examples of infantry units that retained such names are the Royal Irish Fusiliers and the Grenadier Guards.[citation needed]
Dragoons were created as mounted infantry, with horses for travel between battles; they were still considered infantry since they dismounted before combat. However, if light cavalry was lacking in an army, any available dragoons might be assigned their duties; this practice increased over time, and dragoons eventually received all the weapons and training as both infantry and cavalry, and could be classified as both. Conversely, starting about the mid-19th century, regular cavalry have been forced to spend more of their time dismounted in combat due to the ever-increasing effectiveness of enemy infantry firearms. Thus most cavalry transitioned to mounted infantry. As with grenadiers, the dragoon and cavalry designations can be retained long after their horses, such as in the Royal Dragoon Guards, Royal Lancers, and King's Royal Hussars.[citation needed]

Hey guys and welcome to an in depth look at Napoleon's Swiss units! well, I say Napoleon's, it's mostly Louis the XVI's!
There'll be 2 more parts to this (maybe 3), one covering Spain and Russia and one covering the Valais and Neuchatel regiments, so sub for them!
Also, tomorrow at 10:30AM BST I'll be going live for a bank holiday Monday paintalong, and perhaps kitbashing some Portuguese dragoons, maybe some Middle Guard, I don't know, I've not decided yet!
