In this video, we highlight 10 of the best things to do in and around Bangkok for your first or second visit:
10. Try the street food
A dish generally costs between 1 to $3 and ranges from barbecued chicken and steamed dumplings, to Pad Thai and tasty mango sticky rice.
9. Admire the Grand Palace
The Grand Palace is Bangkok’s most impressive and popular tourist attraction. Established in 1782, this complex was the royal residence for generations.
8. See the reclining Buddha at Wat Pho
Known as one of Bangkok’s oldest temples, this place has a rich history and is home to an impressive Reclining Buddha.
7. Visit a floating market
The most popular floating market is Damnoen Saduak, which is about a 1.5 hour drive from the city center of Bangkok.
☑️ Floating market + railway market tour: https://www.getyourguide.com/bangkok-l169/bangkok-damnoen-saduak-market-and-maeklong-railway-market-t383872/?partner_id=57UJ5GF&utm_medium=online_publisher&placement=content-middle&cmp=Bangkok_video
6. Take a stroll in Lumpini park
This big green oasis offers several lawn areas, paved walking paths, trees, playgrounds, and an artificial lake.
5. Get a view over Bangkok
We visited the Mahanakhon building, home to Bangkok’s highest observation deck, which provides spectacular views of the city and river.
☑️ Buy tickets in advance (recommended!): https://kpmn.thaiticketonline.net/book/kpmn
4. Explore lesser-known Buddhist Temples
With roots steeped in centuries-old history and Buddhist culture, you can find hundreds of temples in Bangkok. It’s worth visiting a few in the Banglamphu area (Golden Mount & Loha Prasat) with a local guide.
☑️ Buddhist tour with Saravarint: https://www.withlocals.com/experience/treasures-of-bangkok-buddhism-and-monks-tour-d45ea7af/?adults=4&children=0

3. Experience Khao San Road
Khao San Road is a vibrant street, packed with hostels, food vendors, clothing stalls, bars, restaurants, and travelers from every corner of the globe.
2. Shop at Chatuchak Weekend Market
On Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm
1. Watch the sunset over the Chao Phraya River & Wat Arun
From one of the rooftop bars (Eagle’s Nest or The Deck Restaurant), you can watch the sun set over Wat Arun.

Raised in north London and having studied English and American Literature at the University of Warwick, Mr Burdett also worked in a UK legal centre for 18 months before taking up a position of Crown Counsel for the Attorney General of Hong Kong in 1980.

John Burdett - on his fast-paced novels set in Bangkok - Hosted by Rudy Maxa
Our Guest: John Burdett - Autho
Should you have to opportunity to read a novel by John Burdett, I would suggest you steel yourself. While many of his books are set in the city where he now lives, Bangkok, and while you’ll learn a lot about Thai culture from his books, the crimes in Burdett’s fast-paced thrillers can be gruesome. But it’s leavened by Burdett’s sense of humor.
Burdett grew up in London but became acquainted with Asia when he joined a major law firm in Hong Kong. He’d always wanted to write fiction, but the law paid better.
After 12 years lawyering in Hong Kong, he’d saved enough money to indulge his passion. He eventually settled in Thailand’s capital city where he’s lived the last 19 years.
Burdett has written eight novels, six of them revolving around a world-wear...

Burdett has written eight novels, six of them revolving around a world-weary Bangkok cop, Sonchai Jitpleecheep, a Buddhist detective in Bangkok’s District 8 who encounters bad guys with disturbing regularity.
Check out Bangkok Haunts, Bangkok 8, or Bangkok Tattoo. Of the latter novel, one of America’s premier crime novelists, James Ellroy wrote, “A novel so steeped in milieu that it feels as if you’ve blasted to Mars in the grip of a demon who won’t let you go.”
Carl Hiassen also wrote of Bangkok Tattoo, “One of the most startling and provocative mysteries I’ve read in years. Once I started, I didn’t want to put it down.”
Because of the time difference between the US and Asia, I must pre-record this interview. But I think his take on Asia, ex-pats in Asia, and crime will keep you riveted.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
A thriller with attitude to spare, Bangkok 8 is a sexy, razor-edged, often darkly hilarious novel set in one of the world’s most exotic cities.
Witnessed by a throng of gaping spectators, a charismatic Marine sergeant is murdered under a Bangkok bridge inside a bolted-shut Mercedes Benz. Among the witnesses are the only two cops in the city not on the take, but within moments one is murdered and his partner, Sonchai Jitpleecheep—a devout Buddhist and the son of a Thai bar girl and a long-gone Vietnam War G.I.—is hell-bent on wreaking revenge. On a vigilante mission to capture his partner’s murderer, Sonchai is begrudgingly paired with a beautiful FBI agent named Jones and captures her heart in the process. In a city fueled by illicit drugs and infinite corruption, prostitution and priceless art, Sonchai’s quest for vengeance takes him into a world much more sinister than he could have ever imagined.

We know that all organisations require an effective leadership team at the top. The complicated challenge of finding senior level executives is best met with the support of a firm with a proven track record of success. The tools that TRANSEARCH International uses provide a unique perspective regarding culture, leadership, team and performance "fit". And our integration methodology ensures that new leaders are integrated quickly and successfully without breaking stride. We work closely with our clients to enable us to really tell their story, to know what it is like to be part of high performing teams and to be an ambassador for our clients when speaking with prospective candidates.
The responsibility of conducting an executive search for a senior-level management position is never taken lightly. For over 35 years, companies all over the world have relied on TRANSEARCH International to build successful flourishing leadership teams. In-depth sector experience combined with a unique approach to talent acquisition allows us to build winning relationships with both clients and candidates. TRANSEARCH uses a unique process called TRANSEARCH Orxestra® Method (developed by John O. Burdett) to significantly minimise risks associated with executive hires. The method allows us to provide our clients with ideal short lists, as we are able to measure and evaluate candidates in a way that no other search firm can.
Nothing is more important in the hiring process than ensuring fit. What differentiates TRANSEARCH and translates into meaningful benefits for our clients is how we ensure 'fit'. We use the TRANSEARCH Orxestra® Method (developed by John O. Burdett) to measure five different types of fit which guards against costly mishires. Underpinning the outcomes of a successful executive hire is understanding the client's journey and story and ensuring, there is cultural, leadership, team, performance and integration fit.

Held from 6 to 20 December 1998, the 13th edition of the Asian Games marked the fourth time that Bangkok, Thailand had played host, having already done so in 1966, 1970 (initially in Seoul) and 1978 (initially Singapore, then Islamabad). It was also the first time that the Thai capital have put a bid for the event, having been selected in September 1990 over bids from Taipei and Jakarta.
But in its run-up, there had been serious doubts about whether Thailand, in the midst of Asia's worst economic crisis in half a century, would successfully host the world’s second-biggest sporting event. The Thai cause was not helped in the final weeks leading to the Asiad, when the construction of road links and games venues was running behind ...

this performance is "The Lights Of Asia"
Lyrics
Open up your heart
Let us hear your inner voice
Sing the song of grief
And cry the tears of joy
Through the darkness of the night
Shine the light from the stars
Glowing warm as we are
Holding hands
Touching hearts
As shining in your face
Love has come to pass
Wave your warm and grace
Love is here to last
Through the darkness of the night
Shine the light from the stars
Glowing warm as we are
Holding hands
Touching hearts
So sing it once again
Now that we must pass
Sing it through the end
Love is here to last
Look up (Look up) to the star
Let them shine on you
Rise up (Rise up) to the sky

But in its run-up, there had been serious doubts about whether Thailand, in the midst of Asia's worst economic crisis in half a century, would successfully host the world’s second-biggest sporting event. The Thai cause was not helped in the final weeks leading to the Asiad, when the construction of road links and games venues was running behind schedule, general ticket sales for the events very low and some teams were pulled out of competitions.
According to a news report from United Press International, its preparations including the construction and renovation of three main stadiums and an athletes' village, cost an estimated THB6 billion, which is US$167 million.
But finally, all doubts had been erased by the time the Games got underway at the 70,000-seat Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok. Over 6,000 athletes across the continent have participated in the Bangkok Asian Games, which featured 377 medal events in 36 sports and disciplines.
At these Games, Thailand had bagged 24 gold, 26 silver and 40 bronze medals, making a total of 90 medals that placed them fourth on the medal tally, behind Asian sporting powerhouses China, Japan and South Korea. The home crowd’s support has been exceptional, and the host nation's victories have been a welcome diversion from the country’s economic woes. For Thailand as a whole, the 1998 Asiad was one of its remarkable achievements in the nation's sports development throughout its modern history.

For Thailand as a whole, the 1998 Asiad was one of its remarkable achievements in the nation's sports development throughout its modern history.

the 13th Asian Games Bangkok 1998 Closing Ceremony on 20th December 1998
At Rajamangala National Stadium
this performance is "The Lights Of Asia"
Lyrics
Open up your heart
Let us hear your inner voice
Sing the song of grief
And cry the tears of joy
Through the darkness of the night
Shine the light from the stars
Glowing warm as we are
Holding hands
Touching hearts
As shining in your face
Love has come to pass
Wave your warm and grace
Love is here to last
Through the darkness of the night
Shine the light from the stars
Glowing warm as we are
Holding hands
Touching hearts
So sing it once again
Now that we must pass
Sing it through the end
Love is here to last
Look up (Look up) to the star
Let them shine on you
Rise up (Rise up) to the sky
Make your dreams come true
Look up (Look up) to the star
Let them shine on you
Rise up (Rise up) to the sky
Make your dreams come true
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

เสียงประสานกระหึ่มๆ แบบนี้ยิ่งฟังแล้ว ขนลุกเลยครับ...
