How old are you? Are you old enough?
Should you be in here watching that?
And how old are you? Are you owning up?
Should you be in here with-?
24 hour party people
Plastic face can't smile the whites out
With the 24 hour party people
Plastic face can't smile the whites out
You can't be beaten
So why don't you join in?
You can't be beaten
So why don't you join in with-?
24 hour party people
Plastic face can't smile the whites out
With the 24 hour party people
Plastic face can't smile the whites out
I can see you through the door, you been chewing bread and water
And there's a grudge on you, you know not ought to have
You've been running around the racetrack
You've been running around the racetrack
Put that mother to bed, to bed, put that mother to bed
With the 24 hour party people
Plastic face can't smile a whites out
'Cause I have to wait for you to conduct
Press the pause of the self destruct
With the 24 hour party people
Plastic face can't smile the whites out
With the 24 hour party people
Now better you're the white out
I need full-time
I don't need part-time
I need one, two, three, four, five, six, seven
Three, six, five, all the time
I need one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, full time
I don't need a part-time
I need a three, six, five
Oh, no days off
I need one, two, three, four, five, six, seven
Three, six, five, all the time
I need one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, full time
I don't need a part-time
I need a three, six, five

An ingenious docudrama on the Manchester music scene of the 1980s and '90s. 24 Hour Party People traces the rise and fall of bands like Joy Division, New Order, and Happy Mondays--bands whose success in the U.S. was limited, but whose impact in Europe (and England in particular) was phenomenal. It all centers around the record label that spawned these bands, Factory Records, and its impresario Tony Wilson (Steve Coogan), a man both ludicrous in his self-absorption and brilliant in his willingness to go out on a limb for bands he likes. Coogan, a British comic, gives a remarkable and deeply funny performance that manages to be simultaneously sincere and ironic. The movie communicates what was great about this time without any false majesty--the squalor and disasters are as crucial to this portrait as the wild successes. The soundtrack, of course, is superb.
