Las Vegas (/lɑːsˈveɪɡəs/, also locally /lɑːsˈvɛɡᵻs/; Spanish:[laz ˈβeɣas]) officially the City of Las Vegas and often known as simply Vegas, is a city in the United States, the most populous city in the state of Nevada, the county seat of Clark County, and the city proper of the Las Vegas Valley. Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city known primarily for gambling, shopping, fine dining and nightlife and is the leading financial and cultural center for Southern Nevada.
Las Vegas is an American television series broadcast by NBC from September 22, 2003 to February 15, 2008. The show focuses on a team of people working at the fictional Montecito Resort & Casino dealing with issues that arise within the working environment, ranging from valet parking and restaurant management to casino security. The series originally aired on Monday nights, though NBC later moved the series to Friday nights first to 9 PM Eastern/8 PM Central and then to 10 PM Eastern/9 PM Central. The show ended syndication in the United States in July 2013 and after a long run of weekday back to back episodes it was moved to a graveyard slot of 4 am- then removed totally from TNT's lineup (on TNT).
The series originally centered on Ed Deline (James Caan), a strict ex-CIA officer who went from being Head of Security to becoming President of Operations of the Montecito, whose job is to run the day-to-day operations of the casino. Following his departure from the series in Season 5, former Marine Danny McCoy (Josh Duhamel), Ed's former protégé, became the Montecito's new President of Operations.
The 2000 edition to the Las Vegas Bowl was the 9th edition of that annual game. It featured the Arkansas Razorbacks, and the hometown UNLV Rebels.
Arkansas scored first on a 7-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Robby Hampton to wide receiver Rod Stinson for a 7-0 Razorback lead. In the second quarter, UNLV tied the score at 7, following a 19-yard touchdown pass from Jason Thomas to Nate Turner. Arkansas answered with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Hampton to Boo Williams, giving the Razorbacks a 14-7 lead. But with Thomas and Turner connecting for their second score, the game became a 14-14 tie at intermission.
In the third quarter, Jason Thomas notched his third passing touchdown of the game, a 54 yarder to Troy Mason, giving UNLV a 21-14 lead it wouldn't relinquish. In the fourth quarter, Dillon Pieffer kicked a 26-yard field goal to increase the Rebels lead to 24-14. Kevin Brown's 14 yard touchdown run made the final margin 31-14.
Las Vegas is a game for two to five players. It consists of six small boards representing different casinos, a set of money in various denominations of the United States dollar, and five sets of eight dice, each set coloured differently.
The game is played for four rounds. At the start of each round, each casino is randomly dealt a banknote from the bank. Each casino must hold at least $50,000. If the banknote's worth is less than that, the casino is dealt an additional banknote, until the casino holds at least $50,000.
Players take turns throwing their dice. At the start of a round, each player is holding all of their eight dice. After the dice are thrown, the player must choose which casino they are betting on. This is done by choosing a number and placing all the dice showing that number on the respective casino. Betting is mandatory, there is no option to voluntarily pass a turn. A player can only pass a turn when he/she has no dice left for the round.
"Las Vegas" is the 18th episode of the fifth season of the AmericansitcomModern Family, and the series' 114th overall. It was aired on March 26, 2014. The episode was written by Paul Corrigan, Brad Walsh, and Bill Wrubel and directed by Gail Mancuso. This was the first episode of the show to feature only the parent cast.
All the family, except the kids, arrive at Las Vegas for the weekend. Jay (Ed O'Neill) sold the owner of Mandalay Bay, Burt (Ray Laska), some closet space and Burt gave him free access to the three main adult contingents at the hotel's platinum level rooms in return.
Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) runs into an old boyfriend of his, Langham (Fred Armisen), who is there with his partner Tim (Jeffrey Nicholas Brown) for their bachelor party. The two of them invite Mitchell and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) to their party but Mitchell declines the offer since he just wants to spend some time at the spa relaxing. Cam goes with Mitchell but when Mitchell has his massage, he leaves to go to the pool party of Langham and Tim and gets back in time so Mitchell won't notice his absence.
Las Vegas is a city in and the county seat of San Miguel County, New Mexico, United States. Once two separate municipalities (one a city and the other a town) both named Las Vegas, west Las Vegas ("Old Town") and east Las Vegas ("New Town"), separated by the Gallinas River, retain distinct characters and separate, rival school districts. The population was 14,565 at the 2000 census. Las Vegas, NM is located 110 miles (180km) south of Raton, New Mexico, 65 miles (105km) east of Santa Fe, New Mexico, 122 miles (196km) northeast of Albuquerque, New Mexico, 257 miles (414km) south of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and 326 miles (525km) south of Denver, Colorado.
History
Las Vegas was established in 1835 after a group of settlers received a land grant from the Mexican government. The town was laid out in the traditional Spanish Colonial style, with a central plaza surrounded by buildings which could serve as fortifications in case of attack. Las Vegas soon prospered as a stop on the Santa Fe Trail. During the Mexican-American War in 1846, Stephen W. Kearny delivered an address at the Plaza of Las Vegas claiming New Mexico for the United States. In 1877 Las Vegas College, the precursor to Regis University, was founded in Las Vegas by a group of exiled Italian Jesuits. In 1887, Las Vegas College moved to Denver whereupon the name was changed.
