It is across the sea from Gulangyu Island, a world cultural heritage. Its early buildings, including Qunxian Tower, Jiannan Tower, Furong Tower and Xiamen University Anthropology Museum, are the key cultural relics protection units in China.
Xiamen University is ranked #297 in Best Global Universities. Schools are ranked according to their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence.
The university is directly administered by the Chinese Ministry of Education and is highly rated nationally for subjects including journalism, chemistry and economics.
Xiamen University (XMU) , established in 1921 by renowned patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee, is the first university founded by an overseas Chinese in the history of modern Chinese education.
XMU has long been listed among China’s leading universities on the national 211 Project, 985 Project and Double First-class initiative, which have been launched by the Chinese government to support selected universities in achieving world-class standing.
Xiamen University Malaysia Campus is the first overseas branch campus established by a prestigious Chinese university.
With a graduate school, 6 academic divisions consisting of 30 schools and colleges, and 16 research institutes, XMU boasts a total enrollment of nearly 40,000 full-time students (including 1,208 international students), i.e. 20,651 undergraduates, 16,712 graduate students toward a master’s degree, 4,737 doctoral candidates.
XMU currently has a faculty of over 2,700 full-time teachers and researchers, of whom 21 are the members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (including 9 who are employed simultaneously by other institutions).
XMU has forged partnerships with 250 universities in such countries as the UK, the US, Japan, France, Russia, etc., as well as China’s special administrative regions like Hong Kong and Macao and the Province of Taiwan; it has established 15 Confucius Institutes in collaboration with local universities in 13 countries.
In September 2013, in a bid to advance the educational cooperation and enchange between China and ASEAN countries, the Chinese and Malaysian governments authorized Xiamen University to build a campus in Malaysia-Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM).
As the first overseas campus set up by a renowned Chinese university and the first Chinese university branch campus in Malaysia, XMUM is acclaimed as a brilliant pearl on the 21st Century Marine Silk Road. Admitted its first intake of students in February 2016, XMUM now has a student enrolment of over 5,000 students from 28 countries and regions.
Nestled snugly between green hills and the blue sea, XMU is renowned as China’s most beautiful university for its excellent education facilities and beautiful environment.
Forever inspired by the motto “Pursue Excellence, Strive for Perfection”, XMU has been dedicated to producing high-caliber talents with integrity, thereby making great contributions to the prosperity of the country, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the progress of mankind in general.
XMU is increasingly becoming an internationally acclaimed world-class university.

Xiamen Night Walk | The Pedestrian Street & Night Food Alleys | 4K HDR | Fujian | 厦门 | 中山路步行街 | 曾厝垵
It's my second time to visit this great city.
I only got 48 hours in this city.
I filmed 2 videos. One is Xiamen University, and one is Xiamen's pedestrian street.
-----------------------------
Zhongshan street is the nerve centre of Xiamen tourism.
All tourists, travellers, visitors, how you may prefer to call them, they all come here at some point of their visit.
It is said that more than a billion people pass here every year. More than a billion!
Now you would wonder who these people are and where they all come from?
Well, firstly, they aren’t foreigners. They are local Chinese tourists from other regions in China.
Secondly, in this trip to Xiamen, I realised that China is seriously an economic power to reckon with.
They do not need foreigners to augment their tourism sect...

Speaking of local culture in Xiamen, one can't skip Mazu. The worshiping of the Chinese sea goddess Mazu is a folk custom prevalent along China's southeastern coast. Mazu belief and customs have been inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
As legend has it, a girl named Lin Mo was born in 960 in Fujian. She was intelligent and benevolent, willing to help others since her youth. Later in her life, she achieved Taoist success and became a divinity. Then, she roamed around the country, rescuing and helping fishermen at sea.
Transportation
It is very convenient for travelers to fly to Xiamen from China's major cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Traveling by high-speed railway is also a good choice.
As one of the most popular tourist destinations in Xiamen, Gulangyu Island is located on the estuary of the Jiulong River, only a six-minute ferry ride from downtown. It is famous for its varied architecture and multicultural history.
Many Europeans and Japanese lived on Gulangyu, today a vehicle-free island with beaches and meandering streets lined with old colonial villas

The Xiamen Shanhai Health Trail is about 23 kilometers long. It starts from the cruise terminal and ends at the Guanyin Mountain Dream Beach.
Along the route, there are "eight mountains and three waters" such as Jinshan, Lakeside Reservoir, and Wuyuan Bay.
The trail is not affected by ground vehicle traffic, and passes through high-density residential and commercial areas in the urban area, connecting the urban landscape with the natural scenery, forming a mountain-sea pedestrian corridor.
The Xiamen Shanhai Health Trail is built on the mountain, and in the design and construction, the original vegetation is preserved as much as possible to show the natural wildness. There are 16 landscape check-in points, 12 characteristic landscape parks, and multiple viewing platforms on the entire trail.
Standing on the health trail, you can enjoy the Xianyue Mountain, the white sails in the Huaiwuyuan Bay, and the beautiful scenery of the Eight Mountains and Three Waters of Ludao Island.

Xiamen is a port city on China’s southeast coast, across a strait from Taiwan. It encompasses 2 main islands and a region on the mainland.
Formerly known as Amoy, it was a British-run treaty port from 1842 to 1912. Many Europeans and Japanese lived on Gulangyu, today a vehicle-free island with beaches and meandering streets lined with old colonial villas.
Located at the southeast coast of China, Xiamen is a tourist city of Fujian Province famous for its attractive seascape. As one of the major seaports since ancient times, it boasts a wide gulf with deep water but without freezing and silting.
The name was consequently given, which means 'the gate of China'. As one of the forerunners of the special economic zones of China, the city mainly consisting of Xiamen Island, Gulangyu Island, the north bank area of the Jiulong River and Tong'an County, is connected with the mainland by the Gaoji Seawall, Xiamen Bridge, etc.
The city has been called the Egret Island because of the hundreds of thousands of egrets inhabiting there. This is due to the beautiful natural scenery, the fresh air and the clean environment of the city.
-------------------⭐⭐
Xiamen Overview
-------------------⭐⭐
Xiamen City, considered one of the most pleasant cities in China, is today a symbol of China’s economic success. Formerly called Amoy, the town is formed by Xiamen Island, Gulangyu Island, and the north bank of the Jiulongjiang River.
Today’s visitors to Xiamen come mainly as gateways to the Hakka region, including visiting the famous “tulous” round houses, and visiting Gulangyu Island.
The city of Xiamen itself remains pleasant, with an old city still existing with some buildings dating from the period of European presence. You can visit some ancient temples, including Nanputuo.
-------------------⭐⭐
Xiamen, or many tourists may call it Amoy, is located on the southeast coast of China, under the jurisdiction of China’s Fujian Province. The city shares the characteristics of a metropolis as well as the quietness and ease of a romantic town.
Such a unique contrast plus the year-around pleasant weather and climate make Xiamen a perfect place for holiday.
In Xiamen, there are countless amazing tourist islands and beaches waiting for your steps, including the world-renowned Gulangyu Island - the sacred UNESCO World Heritage Site and "Garden on the Sea". The fresh and floral air energizes you.
-------------------⭐⭐
Seafood Paradise
-------------------⭐⭐
Thanks to its unbeatable location of setting close to the sea, Xiamen is really a paradise for seafood. Here, you will find seafood snacks and dishes everywhere, including on the popular tourist streets on Gulangyu Island and also in some secret alleys.
The smell of seafood will accompany you all the way. No specific plan is required to find something to eat in Xiamen, just make your stop at the restaurant or stall you are interested, and then you will be given yummy foods to satisfy your taste bud.

Xiamen is a tourist city in Fujian Province, on the southeast coast of China.
Xiamen ranks among China's most appealing tourist destinations, with a fine mix of urban and natural attractions.
Located on the southern coast of the Fujian Province, Xiamen is, in large part, set on a separate island.
With origins dating back 5,000 years, trade has been the lifeblood of Xiamen and the city has grown on commerce generated by merchants, both Chinese and European, who used Xiamen as their gateway to China.
Xiamen was recently voted China's cleanest city, and has many attractions for the tourist.
Xiamen and its surrounding countryside provides spectacular scenery and pleasant tree-lined beaches.
Xiamen is one of the better places to live in China, and although it is more expensive than most places, it is not a bad place to live.
English is becoming more widely spoken (although a lot of Chinese still don't speak English), and Chinese are generally friendly and helpful to foreigners.
------------------------------
★★ Is Xiamen safe? ★★

They do not need foreigners to augment their tourism sector.
They are self-sufficient because millions of Chinese are out there travelling locally.
Zhongshan Road is the oldest commercial street in Xiamen dating back to 1925.
It is a kilometre long walking street filled with pretty retail shops, big department stores, lots of cute cafes and contemporary and traditional cuisine restaurants, food courts and more retail shops.
It is closed to any vehicular traffic and smoking is not allowed on the streets.
Visiting this street is a must for Xiamen first time visitors. Some may find this street too touristy, highly commercialised, loud and nothing special at all, whilst another will probably think it is great and lively, and a good representation where the now capitalist China is heading for.
Western and traditional shops collide here at Zhongshan; yes, there is a KFC and McDonalds and the interior design of many tea shops, such as the elegant Miss Zhao will make you think you are in one of the exclusive stores in Europe.
There are tea stores here selling the traditional loose leaf tea and others that are trendy, a combination of a tea shop and a cafe promoting milk tea and pearl milk tea. Zhang Sanfeng Milk Tea Shop is one of the popular ones.
There is a wide array of local food delights as well which are perfect to bring home as souvenirs and gifts, such as dried food products (crab, squid, fish, pork floss), nuts, durian, pineapple and mango candies, mooncakes of different flavours, roast duck and more.
Many promotional ladies stand outside the shops as well and beg passersby to taste a sample of their product. I managed to taste some of the dried seafood and mooncakes and ended up buying a few packs as homecoming gifts for my family.
There is also a very interesting street food scene here. The Fujian-style snacks which has a focus on seafood and right up my alley as I love anything coming from the sea. I will be writing a separate post about this very soon.
Except for food, I am not a big retail shopper but there is plenty of department stores here for people looking for clothes, shoes and other dry personal and home goods.
And oh, for the ladies, many jewellery shops here would chain you a necklace made of pearls harvested from a live oyster right before your eyes. While you wait.

Would Top 10 Men Sunglasses Design collection for Channel 360`
Sunglasses:
For the Divine Brown song, see Sunglasses (Divine Brown song). For the Skeeter Davis song, later covered by Tracey Ullman, see Sun Glasses (song). For the 2013 film, see Sun-glass (film).
"Shades" redirects here. For other uses, see Shade (disambiguation).
Sunglasses or sun glasses are a form of protective eyewear designed primarily to prevent bright sunlight and high-energy visible light from damaging or discomforting the eyes. They can sometimes also function as a visual aid, as variously termed spectacles or glasses exist, featuring lenses that are colored, polarized or darkened. In the early 20th century, they were also known as sun cheaters (cheaters being an American slang term for glasses).[1]
The American Optometric Association recommends sunglasses whenever a person is in the sun.[2] to protect the eyes from ultraviolet radiation (UV) and blue light, which can cause several serious eye problems. Its usage is mandatory immediately after some surgical procedures, such as LASIK, and recommended for a certain time period in dusty areas, when leaving the house and in front of a TV screen or computer monitor after LASEK. Sunglasses have long been associated with celebrities and film actors primarily from a desire to mask their identity. Since the 1940s, sunglasses have been popular as a fashion accessory, especially on the beach.
History:
Precursors
In prehistoric and historic time, Inuit peoples wore flattened walrus ivory "glasses", looking through narrow slits to block harmful reflected rays of the sun.[3][4]
It is said that the Roman emperor Nero liked to watch gladiator fights with emeralds. These, however, appear to have worked rather like mirrors.[5] Sunglasses made from flat panes of smoky quartz, which offered no corrective powers but did protect the eyes from glare, were used in China in the 12th century or possibly earlier. Ancient documents describe the use of such crystal sunglasses by judges in ancient Chinese courts to conceal their facial expressions while questioning witnesses.[6]
James Ayscough began experimenting with tinted lenses in spectacles in the mid-18th century, around 1752. These were not "sunglasses" as that term is now used; Ayscough believed that blue- or green-tinted glass could correct for specific vision impairments. Protection from the Sun's rays was not a concern for him. Yellow/amber and brown-tinted spectacles were also a commonly prescribed item for people with syphilis in the 19th[dubious – discuss] and early 20th centuries because sensitivity to light was one of the symptoms of the disease.
Modern developments:
In the early 1920s, the use of sunglasses started to become more widespread, especially among movie stars. It is commonly believed that this was to avoid recognition by fans, but an alternative reason sometimes given is that they often had red eyes from the powerful arc lamps that were needed due to the extremely slow speed film stocks used.[citation needed] The stereotype persisted long after improvements in film quality and the introduction of ultraviolet filters had eliminated this problem. Inexpensive mass-produced sunglasses made from celluloid were first produced by Sam Foster in 1929. Foster found a ready market on the beaches of Atlantic City, New Jersey, where he began selling sunglasses under the name Foster Grant from a Woolworth on the Boardwalk.[7] By 1938, Life magazine wrote of how sunglasses were a "new fad for wear on city streets ... a favorite affectation of thousands of women all over the U.S." It stated that 20 million sunglasses were sold in the United States in 1937, but estimated that only about 25% of American wearers needed them to protect their eyes.[8] Polarized sunglasses first became available in 1936, when Edwin H. Land began experimenting with making lenses with his patented Polaroid filter.
At present, Xiamen, China, is the world's largest producer of sunglasses, with its port exporting 120 million pairs each year.[9]
Protection:
Sunglasses offer protection against excessive exposure to light, including its visible and invisible components.
The most widespread protection is against ultraviolet radiation, which can cause short-term and long-term ocular problems such as photokeratitis, snow blindness, cataracts, pterygium, and various forms of eye cancer.[11] Medical experts advise the public on the importance of wearing sunglasses to protect the eyes from UV;[11] for adequate protection, experts recommend sunglasses that reflect or filter out 99% or more of UVA and UVB light, with wavelengths up to 400 nm. Sunglasses that meet this requirement are often labeled as "UV400". This is slightly more protection than the widely used standard of the European Union (see below), which requires that 95% of the radiation up to only 380 nm must be reflected or filtered out.[12] Sunglasses are not sufficient to protect the eyes against permanent harm from .
