A redirect a history of which includes listcruft and wp:promo. Has recently been restored from a redirect to an article by an IP with a likely COI. Nothing usable in the article history and no incoming links, so might as well delete. K.e.coffman (talk) 00:59, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm also including the reply below as part of my Delete !vote - "Readers who search for this title would obviously end up at Myx TV where they would (quite rightly) expect to see a programme list .... So again this title is only giving readers false hope (in assuming a programme list is there when it's not) .... so in that sense it only serves as a useless redirect, If there's no programme list on that target article then what is the point of this redirect ? ..... There isn't one", –Davey2010Talk 17:38, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Davey2010. Nothing useful about this redirect. We should avoid having lists of programs redirecting to other articles. Ajf773 (talk) 10:32, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sorry but Keep — we've trained users to expect lists like this, so it's a fair search term. May not be tons of help at the target, but it will be of some use (and there likely should/could be more). ~ Amory (utc) 10:43, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • we've trained users to expect lists like this - I disagree - Not every channel on this project has a programme list so I disagree readers aren't trained to expect this, The majority of readers would (or should) go to the article first, The other issue with this redirect is that readers who search for this title would obviously end up at Myx TV where they would (quite rightly) expect to see a programme list .... So again this title is only giving readers false hope (in assuming a programme list is there when it's not) .... so in that sense it only serves as a useless redirect, If there's no programme list on that target article then what is the point of this redirect ? ..... ZZTae

The result of the discussion was keep. I've readded the section that was removed by the nominator so there is some content. I will note that it was unsourced so if anyone can help source it, that would be appreciated. -- Tavix (talk) 22:10, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not in target article. Lordtobi () 09:20, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep These are all quite old, and it seems the main article for each was at some point merged into the target. I'm inclined to keep as these could be linked externally and aren't hurting the project. More to the point, the only reason they're not mentioned in the article is because you removed them in January, blanking the section as "nonnotable." These are still very much alive. ~ Amory (utc) 10:51, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bleh, I got fooled by the delete. Are you able to add a paragraph back about popular editors as with Anonymizer#Examples. It would have to be reliably sourced first. You can use this book by Chris Kohler [1] to save "KevEdit" . Not sure about ZZTae though. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:04, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An ancient redirect, not eligible for CSD R3. My Google search indicates no results for this title, and the show was never named this. Absolutely no reason to have this, I suspect it was created as a joke. Compassionate727 (T·C) 14:43, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unlikely search term. Lordtobi () 10:12, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep this is mainly used on Linux operating systems, especially when it was created by Linus Torvald. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:41, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
"This is mainly used on Linux" How so? I, at least, use it on Windows, and so do a couple other million users. While Linux sure is a viable platform for Git, the software is not restritcted to that OS. And Linus Torvalds also created the Linux kernel, so should we have a redirect "Git (Linux kernel)" as well? Inheritance is not at play here... Lordtobi () 17:20, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
From the article: "Git is primarily developed on Linux, although it also supports most major operating systems including BSD, Solaris, macOS, and Windows." But no, do not make dabs for all the platform variants. Keeping (linux) is good enough and there is Git (software) AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:32, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Alb

[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Template:ALB. Regarding Brazil, that another such redirect wouldn't work need not prevent this from helping. ~ Amory (utc) 17:51, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what's so hard about typing "um" that this shortcut was necessary to redirect to {{WikiProject Albums}} as {{Album}} already exists and does the same thing, but Template:ALB already exists as ALB is the 3-letter alpha code for Albania. This is not a known abbreviation for albums. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 23:08, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - "Alb" are the first three letters in the word "album". This RfD is extremely similar to the 2013 RfD about Template:Cop and the 2014 RfD about Template:wprk, which I am incorporating by reference for the sake of brevity. There are several templates like this, such as {{Tb}} which is not about tuburculosis, {{pot}} which is not about cannabis, {{hat}} which is not about headwear, etc. WP:R#D8 does not apply as this is not an article space redirect. WP:R#D2 does not apply as confusion is less likely to occur in other name spaces.
  1. "Unless a WikiProject [or anyone else, for that matter] has actually expressed interest in usurping [these redirects], I don't see [them] doing any harm." To date, no other use for {{alb}} has been suggested at all. Per WP:R#KEEP, "If someone says they find a redirect useful, they probably do".
  2. "Alleged confusion is not very plausible at all. So absent evidence of any harm there is no reason to delete."
  3. "There seems to be no evidence of confusion, just conjecture on the part of nominator, and no argument grounded in WP:R. Laziness is the exact purpose of redirects, to be perfectly honest, and the creator of a useful redirect that saves one or two characters should be commended. We don't delete redirects based merely on conjecture. Someone obviously found these useful given they were created."
  4. "One of the lowest things one can do is steal another mans tools. So you have no use for it. That it's being used is good enough, and there is zero reason to take away something that has no higher use. Such Nominators should be required to be the one to hand edit and remove any deleted tags."
  5. "Redirects are not only cheap but this is a redirect from and to template namespace. That would tend to indicate to me that anyone using it is an editor rather than a general reader and they are hardly likely to get it confused with cop. There are lots of little abbreviated things pulled up over the years such as {{tlc}} or {{tlx}} or whatever as useful shorthand for editors."

*Delete - I don't understand the logic behind the creation .... Ofcourse we have WP:ANI, WP:RFC, WP:BLP which were all created for convenience and easy linking ..... I fail to understand how typing "Alb" over "album" is easy or convenient ? .... It's just lazyness and for what .... all the sake of 2 letters ..... Delete. –Davey2010Talk 15:12, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was disambiguate. Much thanks to BDD ~ Amory (utc) 17:42, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Should be a disambiguation page. Although the term is indeed used to refer to the Issyk kurgan, there are plenty of other uses for "Golden Warrior", namely: the anime series Golden Warrior Gold Lightan; the Golden Warrior Monument; the video game Golden Axe Warrior; the US Navy squadron VFA-87 (the "Golden Warriors"); the Golden State Warriors basketball team; among others. It doesn't appear that the Issyk kurgan is very well known, or that it is the main topic for "Golden Warrior" for that matter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SpursySituation (talkcontribs) 09:55, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
