Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "ISBT Working parties", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. :Jay8g [VTE] 09:20, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the notification
ISBT stands for International Society of Blood Transfusion. This is a scientific society of healthcare workers who directly or indirectly work in the field of Transfusion medicine. Here, we have different working parties on of which is clinical transfusion working party which have Wikipedia sub-group. On behalf of ISBT clinical transfusion working party, we aim to manage the transfusion medicine related Wikipedia pages with the help of subject experts respective to the topic so that the quality of the page is maintained properly, and content is updated regularly. Lastly, we all work as a volunteer thus we don't have any conflict of interest. ISBT Working parties (talk) 05:40, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, but it doesn't address the fact that shared accounts are strictly prohibited (each person editing Wikipedia needs to have their own account), and therefore usernames that imply shared use (like yours) are also prohibited. Please change your username and make sure everyone has their own account, or otherwise you will be blocked. :Jay8g [VTE] 07:23, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your reply. Give some time I will change the username. ISBT Working parties (talk) 08:34, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Changing the username is insufficient. You cannot have more than one person using the account. Secondly, you absolutely DO have a conflict of interest. It is not to do with being paid, or not. You have an interest in writing content that is potentially in conflict with your role as a volunteer for the organisation. MarcGarver (talk) 15:36, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

December 2024

[edit]
Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, team, club, organization, company, product, department, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
    • You are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually. Examples include: "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, department, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Thank you.
I am sorry, but a username cannot represent an organization or indicate shared use. A Wikipedia account is for the use of one person only. Cullen328 (talk) 17:25, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Once you are renamed, you may want to reach out to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine for advice on editing medical articles. Wikipedia's guidelines for medical content aren't necessarily obvious and there are greater complexities where a conflict of interest is involved, although policy-compliant improvements to our transfusion-related articles would be appreciated. Requested username:

Request reason:

I am a Doctor of Transfusion medicine and wants to edit transfusion medicine related pages. My previous username was not complying with the username policy. ISBT Working parties (talk) 05:35, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I have renamed you and will remove the block. Please make the conflict of interest disclosure. Also note that volunteer work can be considered "paid editing" if you intend to put that work on a resume to obtain paying employment or other volunteer work. Payment does not have to be money or even anything tangible. 331dot (talk) 09:37, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
