Happy new year 2025, opened with trumpet fanfares that first sounded OTD in 1725 (as the Main page has). -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:15, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Liebster Immanuel, Herzog der Frommen, BWV 123, my story today 300 years after the first performance, is up for GAN. Dada Masilo will be my story tomorrow. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:56, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

My story today is about a composer who influenced music history also by writing. - Did you see Masilo talking and dancing? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:29, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

History of Christianity

[edit]

Look! Look, I got it under 11,000 words - barely - but still! I am learning from you. I will leave it alone now so you can copy and do your thing. You are almost done. I know you will be relieved when it's over, but I only get more and more impressed with you. I wish I could do something for you. It seems so inadequate to just keep saying thank you. Jenhawk777 (talk) 23:47, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

So, are you taking a short break, or have you decided you're done? If you are not done, the High and Late Middle Ages still need your magic touch. If you have hit the wall, then I thank you again for all you have done. It has made a huge difference and taught me a lot. Jenhawk777 (talk) 04:34, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Most definitely not done, but taking a WP break for a couple of days. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 09:11, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Praise God, Halelujah and Amen!! Take all the time you need. Jenhawk777 (talk) 16:25, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Melisende DYK

[edit]

Hi, AirshipJungleman. I have a most unordinary request 😅 I see that you have already promoted the Queen Melisende hook to Preparation area 7, but the chosen hook seems like the blandest of the approved five. I think the greatest DYK effect would be achieved with ALT1: ... that Queen Melisende (pictured) was so incensed by the rumours of her alleged infidelity that neither the king nor his friends felt safe in her presence? --Surtsicna (talk) 21:58, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Surtsicna, that's perfectly fine, I've changed it. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 23:01, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

2025 Update from Women in Green

[edit]

Hello AirshipJungleman29:

2024 has wrapped up, and what a full year it was for WikiProject Women in Green! Over the past year, we hosted two edit-a-thons, one themed around women's history and another on women around the world. We also managed to achieve most of our 2024 annual goals, nominating 75 articles for GA, reviewing 64 GA nominations, nominating 8 articles for FAC, peer reviewing 3 articles and reviewing 10 FAC nominations. Excellent work, and thank you to everyone involved!

For 2025 we have a new set of goals for nominations and reviews. In particular, we would like to see more articles on our Hot 100 list being improved and nominated for GA this year. If you take a look at the list and see an article you are interested in contributing to, feel free to add it and yourself to our Hot 100 project discussion. You might even find someone interested in collaborating with you!

This year, as with every year, we hope you will join us in helping improve our coverage of women and women's works on this encyclopedia. Every contribution helps. We'll see you around!

Progress on rewrite of Persian Wars GAs

[edit]

Hi AJ, a belated happy new year! I thought I should inform you about my progress on rewriting the Persian Wars GAs. I believe I've concluded the rewrite of the Battle of Mycale. Please let me know if you have any comments on this article. I think I should be done with the remaining big 3: Artemisium, Salamis and Thermopylae; in that order, in 3-4 months, perhaps sooner. After that, I will start work on the other battles of the Wars; Thasos, Naxos, Eretria, Eurymedon, Lade and Marathon; in that order. I will keep updating my progress in this section, so long as it doesn't get automatically archived. Cheers! Matarisvan (talk) 14:11, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

RFC Notice

[edit]

Hello, this notice is for everyone who took part in the 2023 RfC on lists of airline destinations. I have started a new RfC on the subject. If you would like to participate please follow this link: Wikipedia talk:What Wikipedia is not § RfC on WP:NOT and British Airways destinations. Sunnya343 (talk) 01:10, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sunnya343, unless I am missing something, these RfCs are not directly connected, merely on related subjects? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 10:44, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, they are just about related subjects. Sunnya343 (talk) 00:41, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

DYKmake for GlucoBoy

[edit]

Hi AirshipJungleman29

Happy new year to you and I hope you're well.

Just a curiosity I noticed just now - when you were building Prep 6 recently, you added a new hook to the set and simultaneously removed the DYKmake for the GlucoBoy hook, which you'd just added a few minutes previously - [1]. Was this intentional, and if not, do you know why it happened? Also pinging Theleekycauldron as the author (I think) of the PSHAW tool, in case there's some light to be shed from that angle. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 21:02, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Amakuru, it's an unintentional side effect of PSHAW; I don't know why it happens, perhaps TLC can explain. I try to keep an eye out, but thanks for noticing! ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 22:13, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In this case, it was because the article title in the hook and credit didn't match; i've reconfigured PSHAW to stick lost credits to the end instead of removing them. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 22:51, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

After your peer review back in Halloween, I've made some changes as you suggested, and the amount of sections should be cut down by a noticeable amount, along with the confusing prose you mentioned hopefully being more readable. I've found a way to source the 2 sentences. I was stuck on how to provide a source for one, as there was no sign of public statements abandoning the plan (jawiki is oddly lenient on inline citation requirements so that only added to the pain), but I figured a different approach should be somewhat enough. I did consider merging the stations table and the service table but it would make it extremely packed and confusing. Maybe I should just blank the station table and pretend it never existed like Frankston Line...

The massive oversection in the GA version occurred because the rework for GA was based on the Frankston Line article, but while the line I wrote about had a good coverage for its history there was a crucial lack of coverage for other areas to fill the other sections, resulting in... yeah. I suffer from this problem for literally every Japanese railway lines. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 03:18, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LR.127, I've had a quick look, and really you seem eminently suitable for the role, so I'd encourage you to go ahead and sign up! It's really not that involved. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 21:37, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
