Alison Frances Josephine Levitt, Baroness Levitt, KC, is a British barrister. She was called to the Bar by Inner Temple in 1988 and became a KC in 2008. She was nominated for a life peerage in December 2024 by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for the Labour Party.[1] Levitt practised as a criminal barrister in London and from 2009 - 2014 was the Principal Legal Advisor to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Sir Keir Starmer KC. In 2009 she became a Master of the Bench of the Inner Temple. From 2014 to 2018 she was a Partner and head of the White Collar Crime group at Mishcon de Reya. She was a Recorder of the Crown Court from 2007 to 2021 and a Circuit Judge from 2021 to 2024, from which she resigned before she was appointed to the House of Lords.[1] She is married to Alex Carlile, Baron Carlile of Berriew and has two daughters, a stepson, and two stepdaughters.
