This website presents indicators of socio-economic development for the period 1950-2014. It complements the textbook Socio-Economic Development by Adam Szirmai, the second edition of which was published by Cambridge University Press in May 2015.
The book has a strong empirical orientation and contains over 70 tables with statistical data on different dimensions of development for a sample of 31 developing countries and aggregate data for regions.
The website presents the detailed worksheets that underlie each of these tables. This provides students with insights into how tables are constructed from the original raw data, how different sources can be merged and how concepts and choice of years may influence the final results. The tables are updated on a continuous basis.
The website also provides links to important sources of international data for the study of growth and development.
