Mother Neff State Park, located at 1921 Park Road 14, west of Moody, will offer a self-paced New Year's Day hike with interpretive stations throughout the park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. The stations will offer information about the park's history and natural resources.
After hiking, participants can share their experiences in the visitors' center and receive a small memento. Weather permitting, the Leon River Dutch Oven Gang will serve black-eyed peas for good luck in the coming year.
The program is free, but park entrance fees are $2 per person, ages 13 and older. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
Visitors should bring water, wear sensible shoes and dress for the weather.
