Introduction

Visme, a leading presentation and data visualization platform, conducted split-tests of their new form builder tool, Visme Forms, a first of its kind patent-pending form builder against traditional forms to understand the difference in performance.

Specifically, we tested how traditional forms performed against Visme Forms with Animated and Customizable 3D Characters. The first of many innovative form design features we are bringing to market.

The tests focused on simple newsletter sign-up forms that are notorious for very low conversions (far below the referenced standards of 2-4%). These split-tests were conducted on blog content with broad audiences to nearly 700K organic visitors to Visme’s website on both mobile and desktop.

 

Key Findings

Visme Forms with Interactive Animated Characters significantly outperformed traditional forms through 3 split-tests made with nearly 700K organic visitors of Visme.

The results showed using Visme Forms results in: Through 3 split-tests ran to nearly 700K organic visitors to Visme.co, we found Visme Forms significantly outperformed traditional forms on both mobile and desktop, resulting in the following:

  • Increased conversions - Converted 100% - 210% more leads from organic traffic
  • Reduced CPAs - 50% to 68% reduce the cost in acquiring each subscriber
  • Increased attention and engagement - 70% to 210% more visitors started the form once displayed and were 27% more likely to complete the form once started
  • Decreased rejections - 21% to 47% fewer visitors closed the form once displayed
  • Increased feedback and insights - visitors who complete the form were 30% to 100% more likely to perform an additional step to share feedback or additional insights (ex: NPS score)

The Test: Visme Forms vs. Traditional Forms

We ran three split-tests of Visme Forms Interactive Characters against “traditional forms.” These traditional forms had already been split tested and optimized for higher conversions.

The split test consisted of three types of newsletter sign-up pop-up forms:

  • Full Page Pop-Up (Desktop)
  • Pop-Up (Mobile)
  • Slide-In Pop-Up in bottom right-hand corner (Desktop)

Increase conversions, generate more leads, and lower CPAs

Visme Forms generated 2.0x to 3.1x more conversions from organic traffic, generating significant increases in email subscribers.

Across the tests, Visme Forms produced an average increase of conversions of 140% (2.4x).

Specifically, for each style of pop-up tested, here is how Visme Forms performed in comparison to traditional forms for each split test:

Test 1: Full page pop up on Desktop:

  • 102% (2x) more conversions - CPA reduced 51%

Test 2: Pop up on Mobile:

  • 114% (2.1x) more conversions - CPA reduced 52%

Test 3: Bottom right-hand corner pop-up / Slide-in on desktop:

  •  207% (3.1x) more conversions - CPA reduced 68%

 

Forms That Grab Attention & Increase Engagement

In an attention economy, having your brand standout and grab traffic's attention is key to driving conversions and, ultimately, revenue.

Visme Forms was able to grab significantly more attention and positive engagement, with 1.7x to 3.1x more visitors starting the form once displayed - 2.3x more on average - in comparison to traditional forms.

Visme Forms was able to stand out in comparison to traditional forms by:

  • Attracting the attention of visitors
  • Increasing engagement with the form

In our mobile pop-up test, visitors who started the form were 27% more likely to complete a Visme Form vs a traditional form.

 

Decreased Rejections: Have Fewer Visitors Clicking “X”

Anything that reduces your visitors' likelihood to immediately “click X” on your pop-up allows more time to put the spotlight on what you are offering, whether a newsletter, ebook, or any lead magnet.

The tests showed that visitors who received a Visme Form in their split tests were 21% to 47% less likely to close the pop-up, in comparison to traditional forms.

The combination of decreasing the % of visitors who close the displayed pop-ups and increasing the % of visitors who start the form are two clear metrics that underscore Visme Forms’ value.

This is likely due to Visme Forms’ ability to create beautiful designs, customizable avatars, and interactive animations that engage and hold the attention of visitors through a memorable form experience.

 

Increased Insights From Each Subscriber / Lead

In these tests, we wanted to understand if the differentiating factors of Visme Forms would influence how many steps a visitor would be willing to complete and the number of insights and feedback you can generate about each new subscriber or lead generated.

To do this, we set up both Visme Forms and the Traditional Forms to provide a second form window immediately after completing the initial sign up form. The second window prompted subscribers to provide feedback with an NPS Score regarding their experience with the form.

This additional step was completed 1.2x to 2.0x more through a Visme Form, compared to a traditional form.

 

Conclusion

Visme Forms with’ innovative animated 3D characters significantly outperformed traditional forms in 3 split-tests, utilizing three different styles of pop-ups on mobile and desktop.

Visme Forms resulted in the following:

  • 2.0x to 3.1x more conversions from organic traffic
  • Reduced CPAs by 50% to 68%
  • Increased attention and engagement by 1.7x to 3.1x
  • Decreased exit rate by 21% to 47%. Increased insights from each subscriber.

The average increase in conversions was 140% across all tests.

Methodology

Visme conducted three split tests, comparing the performance of traditional forms and the new Visme Forms. The split tests were conducted to 697,347 visitors, distributed equally amongst each test. Each split test was conducted on a single page of informational content. Protections were put in place only to count unique attempts - each unique visitor to the split-tested pages could only participate in the test once.
