Litigators
Berlinski and Saunders enabled talent clients to prevail in two lengthy arbitrations over TV series profit participations, including in the $179 million “Bones” award; and they also represent Aspire Music suing Cash Money Records and others over Drake’s music. Berlinski — a former head of litigation at NBC/Universal Television — reps Genting Malaysia Berhad in suing Fox and Disney over a theme park dispute. Saunders advises Resorts World Las Vegas hotel/casino, including settling a trademark infringement/unfair competition lawsuit. Saunders, who now handles a broad range of civil and criminal litigation, worked 14 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, including prosecuting Hollywood fixer Anthony Pellicano, recently released from prison. Frazier and Meyer litigate entertainment cases including profit participations matters and providing pre-litigation advice. The four litigators are in Los Angeles. “When the traditional media companies launched their own streaming platforms, profit participants were an after-thought,” Berlinski says. “That’s a recipe for litigation.” The beef is that vertically integrated big media makes sweetheart content deals with their corporate siblings.
The Equalizer: A former government prosecutor, Saunders says, “In my private practice, I get no greater professional satisfaction than representing an individual David against a governmental or corporate Goliath, and bringing Goliath down!”
