A multi-year investigation in Mozambique indicates that the timber trade, driven by millions of dollars worth of annual exports to China, violates the log export ban while financing violent insurgents in Cabo Delgado province. According to EIA’s findings, the laundering of conflict timber is made possible by systemic corruption in the timber sector, while the transport between Mozambique and China relies on major global shipping lines.
