Wycombe boss Matt Bloomfield has given his verdict on tonight’s clash with Wanderers and the Whites’ season so far.

Bloomfield’s men sit atop of the table following a 17-game unbeaten run in the league, with their last defeat coming against Birmingham in August.

The Chairboys won 4-1 at Shrewsbury last weekend and are a point above the Blues, who have a game in hand, heading into the busy festive period.

Meanwhile, Bolton are in eighth place and looking to bounce back from a disappointing afternoon against Wigan.

“When you come off losing a play-off final and you come back next season, you’ve had a shorter pre-season than everyone else and there can be a hangover from that disappointment,” Bloomfield told Bucks Free Press.

“From that, it’s kind of natural that they had a slower start but we know they have got a good squad. They have added to their group and are evolving.

“They have also retained a few good players who have played under Ian for a good few years, so they know his methods.

“They are a huge club with very good players. We played two very good games against them last season and we’re hoping for another on Friday night.”

Meanwhile, George Thomason’s rocket against Blackpool has won the League One Goal of the Month prize for November.

Thomason found the top corner with a thumping strike from the edge of the box as Bolton came from behind to beat their local rivals.

The skipper beat Stephen Humphrys of Barnsley, Louie Barry of Stockport and Jonny Smith of Wigan to claim the prize.

“I’m delighted my goal was chosen to win the award and thanks to all those who voted for it,” he told the club site.

“It was a special goal for me as I don’t score too many - especially like that and against a former club - and it came at such an important time for us.

“It got us back into the game and we then went on to win against one of our locals in what was a big match for us at that stage.

“Adding goals to my game is something I’m always looking to do, so hopefully there will be a few more to help us get plenty more wins and climb the table to where we want to be between now and the end of the season.”
