Former Premier League referee David Coote has decided against appealing his firing after a video emerged of him badmouthing ex-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. It means his career is over and he has supposedly accepted the verdict.

According to the Daily Mail, Coote will not battle the PGMOL's dismissal of him after an investigation was launched when the video was leaked. The refereeing body had labeled Coote's position as "untenable" in a statement that confirmed his departure from the organization headed up by Howard Webb.

"David Coote’s actions were found to be in serious breach of the provisions of his employment contract, with his position deemed untenable," the PGMOL said earlier in the month. "Supporting David Coote continues to be important to us and we remain committed to his welfare. David Coote has a right to appeal the decision to terminate his employment."

While Coote was allowed to appeal, it appears that he has opted not to go down that path. Instead, he will not officiate again having been in the Premier League since 2018, two years after he was promoted to the Championship.

This season, Coote had taken charge of six Premier League matches including Liverpool's win over Aston Villa at Anfield in November. He had also done one game in the Championship and one in the EFL Cup.

Coote was also suspended by UEFA where he was often used as a VAR official and in the lower competitions including the Nations League and youth-level European fixtures. Last summer, the Nottinghamshire official, 42, was involved in refereeing at the Olympic Games in Paris.
