Angel Tree (Elevator F, Level 8)
Nov. 21 – Dec. 19
Share the joy of the holidays by donating a gift to a UI Health Care patient! Your generous donations will help our Activities Therapy staff reach their goal of offering a gift to each long-term adult inpatient during the holiday season. The UI Holiday Committee has partnered with Volunteer Services-sponsored businesses to continue the virtual Angel Tree to make it more accessible to the community to contribute. Suggested gifts can be found on the Wild Rose Gifts website and include Hawkeye apparel, salon items, and much more!
All proceeds from gifts purchased for the Angel Tree through the website will go directly towards programs that benefit our patients and their families at UI Health Care.
Warm the Sole (Elevator E, Level 1)
Nov. 22 – Jan. 31
UI Health Care Holiday Committee in partnership with Wild Rose Gifts needs your help decorating the clotheslines with new socks! Donated socks will be donated to local nonprofit agencies such as DVIP, Crisis Center, NCJC, Shelter House, UAY, and Girl Scouts. To purchase socks for the clothesline, please call Wild Rose Gifts at 1-319-356-1999.
When socks are purchased from Wild Rose Gifts for the Warm the Sole sock drive, not only are you helping those in need, but the proceeds from your donation go directly toward programs that benefit our patients and their families at UI Health Care through Volunteer Services.
Sponsored by the UI Health Care Holiday Committee.
Helen Rossi Clothing Drive
The Helen Rossi Clothing closet was established in 1997, with the Rossi Lodging Program, to assist critically ill patients and their families. The "Rossi Closet" relies on donations of new items and is visited several times a day by nursing, social workers, and guest services staff to accommodate the emergent needs of adult and teen patients. The clothes are given to patients at discharge whose garments may have been destroyed by traumatic situations. Items can be purchased and donated using the Helen Rossi Closet wish list, and will be delivered directly to UI Health Care.
Sponsored by the UI Health Care Holiday Committee.
DeGowin Blood Center Blood Drives
The holidays are here, and the UI DeGowin Blood Center is in need of blood and platelet donors. There are opportunities to donate at one of their scheduled blood drives or at the DeGowin Donor Center (Elevator B, Level 2). In order to maintain social distancing, DeGowin is instructing donors to schedule an appointment before coming to donate. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weight at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, and have not taken aspirin products in the last 48 hours.
